Schloss Vollrads Riesling Edition 800 Jahre Weinverkauf

A private dinner (Gutsrestaurant Schloss Vollrads, Winkel, Germany) : Relatively full straw yellow colour owing to the maceration on the skins; yeast and wood on the nose, honey and ripe Riesling fruit; quite concentrated and structured on the textural palate, with firm acidity and well judged bitters, honeyed peach and citrus; very good length. This was made according to old-fashioned methods, which makes it (by contrast) very modern, and it is very well done.
