Deep garnet colored; slightly autumnal nose, black cherry; a bit herbal with that tomato leaf thing working; opens up over 10-15 minutes in the glass. Becomes more of a big and chewy wine of some extraction. BIG

I may have reached the point where I see what Gevrey terroir is - then again, I may be hallucinating. I say this because it very much reminds me of several Pierre Bouree Gevreys particularly. Not overly blackish fruit across the nose and palate with maybe a bit of gravelly blackberry jammy note. This has beautifully balance and an impressive finish.

Deep and darkly coloured. Initially linier and intensely fruited with black cherries, mineral elements and touch of spicy oak. Shows impressive power and breadth of flavour with time in the glass. It is even more primary than the Claude Dugat GC Village had earlier in the week. Needs another 10 years.

This was an excellent wine to finish with as it perhaps could serve as a benchmark for the kind of fruit quality that NZ producers might want to aspire to. Clinical and intense pinot fruit, with animal, leather and floral notes. A bruiser of a wine in terms of concentration, it still retains a gorgeous sense of balance that carries it’s proportions well.
