Benziger Family Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Imagery Series

Bought this large format bottle and kept in cellar for many years. Finally got around to opening for a party. Cork was almost but not quite infiltrated, but the bit remaining served to keep the wine intact. Was quite good for a 18+ year old mid-range Sonoma Cab.

A total mystery when and how this got in the cellar and what a nice surprise. I don't imagine there are many more 1998 out there. But for the record, an alluring nose of rose petals and black raspberry. Gentle and lingering for a petite sirah with soft silky start, middle and finish. Just beautiful. Juicy Cabernet. Already the nose is lush and results in cassis and rosewood. However, the palate is extremely palatable and full. Unfortunately, it is too little differentiated. Pleasant to drink.

($13) Ripe and concentrated black currant and red fruit. Tasty with a slightly tannic finish. Toasty oak and cedar mid palate. Nice value. $13
