Big fan of this. Some bricking around the edge. Ripe dark berries, and maybe some really ripe red cherries. But balanced with acidity and tannins. A bit brambly/wild (?) to give it some character, but not enough to detract. For $9, not at all displeased.

The high altitude vineyards give this Malbec a lovely pure fruit quality and a plush texture. Along with some dark chocolate and a touch of spice this matches bbq red meat or is good on its own.

Aged really well and was a lovely experience. Lots of leather, some coffee and ripe dark berries. Yum!

My wife liked this wine, I did not. Pretty purple color. Nose, my daughter says it smells like dirt. I couldn’t really pick up much of anything. What I don’t like about it is the green pepper taste. I think this comes from having too many leaves on the vine or something. The last time I had a wine with this style was also from South America. It could be a wonderful example of Venezuelan Malbec, I just don’t care …

Color: dark garnet. Nose: vivid, fresh, intense and rich. Woody&smoky, some dark chocolate, rum and raspberry. Palate: well-balanced, clear and strong fruit base coupled with wood and smoky notes. Minerality is above average. Acidity is low. Tannins are bright but well-behaving, leaving quite a nice impression. Medium body. Long finish with lingering fruity notes. A good value.

Ripe dark fruit with mineral on the nose. Medium bodied, smooth, delivering a bit generic dark fruit with licorice and smooth tannins. A decent quaff. Had a glass at Mattolaituri.

Extracted glugger. Sweet in the middle. Sharp on the edges. Very drying. Cloying. Kind of thing you drink during a 2 hour flight delay.

Deep ruby red colour. Dark berries and oak on the nose. Taste of dark cherries, vanilla, oak and spices. Fruity, yet dry. Goes well with red meat.

This a fine $10 wine but for $15 I think there are better wines. Nice but not over powering fruit. Seems to have developed a little more minerality over the last 8 months. This is a fine QPR for weeknights when you just want a glass or two with dinner or while unwinding.

I'm quite content with this wine. Nice fruit and a little minerality and medium body. As far as $10 wines go this wine would fit right in with a weekday line up of Nero D'Avolas, Barberas and Columbia Crest merlots.

More or less as previously described, although I was tasting a bit more oak than my previous notes indicate.

This wine smells nice, the taste is "kind" - not to intrusive, bordering to diluted. For me this wine lacks character. I will not buy another bottle of this wine. Have tried other good Malbecs - this one is not one of them for me.

2 glasses at Richmond Gaucho. Full, purple-rimmed colour; nose quite spicy with red fruit and chocolate, palate similar with good acidity and a touch of fine tannin on the finish. Approachable now and really quite tasty. **1/2

Not much about this one, it is not horrible but thank God it's cheap. I will probably drink it but certainly not buy again!

dark red color. right out of the glass this has sweet plums, toast and vanilla on the nose. it's 13.5% alcohol, medium bodied, and a soft, easy-drinking malbec with bright cherries, red plums, vanilla and toasty oak. well-balanced with a medium- finish. for the price, i like catena's alamos better, but at $8, this doesn't disappoint.

Wow talk about a drastic change. Originally popped and decanted for dinner - this was served immediately after pouring. Initially a nice nose of plums, cherries, and a touch of oak and vanilla - good mouth feel...this was shaping up to be a very decent wine. I revisited this a bit after dinner, perhaps after it had been sitting in the decanter for about 2 hours - the nose is still relatively the same, but in the mouth the fruit …

Jammy nose, smelled of cooked black fruit with a hint of oak. Taste was smooth but thin and the Oak was WAAAAAAAYYYYYY over the top. Not a fan of this.

After reading the reviews for this bottle I was expecting something very different. Dark purple in color, and a fruity aroma. Full mouthfeel and slightly sweet all thru from front to back of the tongue. Very definite salty taste sensation which would explain the sweetness.. Not at all what I expected! Drank with a steak and sweet potato. I enjoyed it and for under ten dollars will buy again.

Very mah. Almost tastes like the $4 Tres Rios I usually buy as cooking wine. This wine is just bad. P.S. It became barely drinkable after 2 hours decanting.

nose: hello oak. also some cranberry and butter. the nose is pretty extracted taste: very little on the mouth. a bit of cranberry and oak, but there just isn't much overall: a very meh wine. THe extracted nose is a problem, and the lack of any taste is a problem. There is also next to no finish at all. it's drinkable, but not all that good and I'm not really a fan of this

Dark purple. Candied plum on the nose. The flavors are dominated by the candied plum. There's also some vanilla, giving it an over the top sweetness. Really not happy with this bottle.

Tasted alongside 2006 Alamos Malbec. This one is much brighter and stands out more. Less smooth, but goes well with red meat. Although I prefer the Alamos (slightly) this one is more distinctive.
