This '22 Cabernet Sauvignon from Dakota Shy was served at the Napa Valley Vintner event in Fort Worth Texas. All of my tasting notes will have more limited descriptors as a lot of the time spent at the tables was spent talking/catching up. I will include some vintage nuances at the bottom of each note. Tasting notes of scorched earth, juicy, ripe black fruits, black pepper, cocoa nibs, and subtle oak spice. I think you're getting exactly what you're expecting. …

Decanted an hour- smooth, prob could have used a little more air.

Friday Night Brown Bagger (J&J's) : Double blind. Deep color. Chocolate, plum and black raspberry aromas. Full-bodied. Big fruit and tannins- large scaled and almost flamboyant. Sweet black fruit and spice qualities carry the finish. (R&R)

Had been opened the previous day. Showing well. Well structured and balanced, with a lot of personality. 91-93

Thinking about buying more to lay down but wanted to get an idea where it’s at first. Drank this bottle over two days. Enjoyable on day one after a four hour decant but better on day two as it opened-up some more as expected. Dark ruby fruit - currants, blackberry, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and decent depth/concentration. Nice vibrant flavors of cassis, cocoa, some spice, and a mineral/graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long …

Composed of mainly Napa mountain fruit and is roughly 96% CS, 4% CF, this is a VERY good QPR for what it is, which is Napa Cab. Very big and indicative of other mtn and 21 vintage wines I have had so far, which are quite tannic early in its life. Will need a healthy decant if drunk now. Good fruit, decent structure and just a good wine at its price point. Would highly recommend for those who love this …

Napa day trip (Promontory, Dakota Shy, Detert) (Napa) : Dark and concentrated blueberries on the nose, accompanied by wet earth, and intense, bright green stems that adds a bit of excitement and freshness amongst the darkness (this blows off with time, I wish it stayed though). On the palate is a vortex of dark blue and black fruits, fruit infused earth, a trailing swirl of minerals and a gentle, sexy spiced damp oak at the end. All grapes sourced for …

Wines Before / At / After a Passover Seder (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL) : Small glass. This is very big, very ripe, nearly sweet. Not my kind of wine.
