Absolutely top notch burgundy in peak drinking window. Very on brand for Volnay with a feminine style and velvety structure backed by tart red fruit and waves floral-slash-tobacco-y complexity. Clean and precise, not rustic. Love this wine.

First 2005 that I have noticed ullage. In addition, I can see through the wine which tells me she's ready. I've had very few 2005s but this wine is in a great place. There are not any noticeable tannins or structure. A beautiful, ripe Volnay Santenots that is always enjoyable. Santenots is not the most elegant Volnay, but it makes up for it with longevity. A beautiful wine. Opened over a couple hours to a structured elegance that was smooth and deceiving until compared to much bigger wines in the tasting. This was hands down my favorite of the evening. Would buy again.
