Keller, Limestone Riesling Kabinett, Rheinhessen

Floral, citric, a bit of peach and tangerine. Still super focused and energetic but given the warm vintage it also shows plenty of charm. Still one of my favorite non-Mosel Kabinetts.

After having the 2020 Keller RR the weekend before, pulled this out to see how it was tasting and it didn’t disappoint. Not as fruit driven, the bright citrus and wet stone notes are front and center. Really good value for the price, shame that this is so hard to find.

Ren, fin, lettdrikkelig. Stein, ingen tropiske noter, ikke superkonsentrert men det passer bra til denne stilen. Alt er balansert og nesten vektløst. Granny smith, bare litt mer avrundet i profilen. Fin syre som sitter litt over sødmen på et vis, men uten at det stikker. Ikke så mye restsødme som andre produsenter, og det passer bra. Ser frem til denne med sushi. Flotte saker.

This ‘22 ‘Limestone’ kabinett from Keller was one of the eight wines I picked for my birthday celebration at Noreetuh. I’ll include the full list at the end of this TN. This Keller Limestone Riesling Kabinett offers a subtle aroma with hints of lime and green apple. On the palate, it shows a lovely acidity with a discreet sweetness that’s perfectly balanced. The mouthfeel is smooth, with a touch of added viscosity. Its color is a light, pale yellow with a touch of sediment. Overall, it's an excellent glass of Riesling Kabinett from Keller.

By the bottle at the HUB at Weston Playhouse in Weston, VT. Killer wine. Lemon lime seltzer, white flowers, hint of sweet melon and almost like a fresh kabocha squash thing (!) on the end. Palate is a little more straight-forward; now-n-later candy, lime cordial, green tropical fruits. Acidity quite subdued for a Riesling, slightly short finish but still really delicious. This disappeared fast.

2/9. 8.5% abv. AP 04. 50° F in the pour, one year after my last drink of this vintage. EYE: white straw color; veiled with gas for the first ten seconds. Purity. Fidelity. High QPR (quality price ratio). Hue: white gold...more so when viewed outside. Nose: honeysuckle, white flowers, faint after rain wet sidewalk, sweet bread. Outdoor scent shimmers more nuances. Flavor: unripe white peach, lemon-lime finish from a sports drink mix with a much higher percentage of water to powder, honeydew melon.

Initially I thought this is really solid Left for three days under vacu pump and I must say was better for it Maybe this needs lots of air or more years in bottle but drinks well either way

Short note - fresh, light, very well balanced, lime, apples, peach, flower nectar, limestone/chalk, long finish, hogh acidity, outstanding quality and especially for the price, 92p

2016 vintage

This bottle was only 8.5 abv which contributes to a medium bodied wine, but the RS was beautifully balanced by ripping acidity (and a small amount of CO2?) which keeps the wine electric and angular. Lots of complexity on the nose (white flower, lime, stone fruit, and honey) with that classic wet slate minerality that I appreciate from the Mosel.

Similar to my last bottle. Very good and a great pairing with our Chinese food. Off dry, limes, mineral, quite acidic. My last ‘18 but have some ‘21’s left for any spicy or Asian food nights!

Pale straw color. Nose of spritzy lemon and lime aromas with some white floral notes and a touch of under ripe white peach. Similar flavors on the palate with racy acidity and just slightly off dry on finish. Mouth waters for minutes after drinking this wine but it's balanced out by the ripe citrus and stone fruits. Really quite nice.

Slight touch of exotic fruit but mostly driven by lemon and acidity. It is off dry and in a good balance. Lovely wine.

Quite delicious, and even a decent value at the ~$29 paid. It just seemed to have that little “extra”. However, prices seem to have gone up and availability way down in the Pacific Northwest, if one can even find it at all. (The normal non-Kabinett Limestone can be found, and seems to be priced not too far off from where this Kabinett bottling was.)

Has puppy fat, roundness and a little more weight than normal but a firm central acid line.

Three and a half years since the previous bottle. Much the same as last time, but finds the wine more balanced. Somewhat closed nose with a bit tropical as the only thing I catch. Richer in the mouth. Markedly fresh and crunchy green apples. However, it dies out quickly. Mild clementine, slightly tropical, and tiny hints of peach and apricot. Nice and clean, but a bit boring and tame.

Lime and other citrus fruit, apple as well as faint hay and wet stone on the citrus-dominated nose. The slender palate adds more lime, some grapefruit and slight pineappleish tones as well as some lift. Some residual sweetness, but it is countered by the brisk mineral stony acidity. Consumed over 2 days. Quite pale in the glass with a little spritz on opening that dissipated fairly quickly. The nose is open, showing lime peel, nectarine, and cool river stones. Minimal petrol. At 9% it’s decidedly off dry, but with beautiful natural acidity that keeps it fresh and light on its feet.

Needed a light drink at home. Cork-closure. Pop and poured. Followed over 2 hours. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, very pale intensity, lemon colour. Thin legs. Slight fizz. Really nice and aptly named off-dry Riesling. Hints of petrol on the nose, mineral/limestone and citrus. Great acidity and limes, low abv. Very young and will certainly improve. But for now will work with any food or just to sip through the afternoon without feeling like you are drinking too much!

We opened this to pair with our Sushi and it was gone way too fast. This is so light, elegant, and lithe that we were drinking it with every bite. Light as air, and walking a line between vibrant stone fruit & citrus with a mineral note that lingers nicely. This is a wine I will certainly be buying more of next year. Outstanding value and a wine I will be buying year in/year out moving forward.

diam 10. Very light transparent slate color with olive tinge; almost clear. Nose light petrol, some wax, apricot and lemon. Palate refined, slight honey, lip smacking acidity, light body. Finish that goes on forever. Very good with refined Sichuan done with French technique using a Cali perspective. Lovely elegance and depth

pale yellow. nose doesn't give much away, just a faint small of white flowers, peaches and some honey sweetness. some faint yeasty elements appearing as the wine warms. things get more interesting and intense in the glass: quince, peaches and apple puree. electrifying acidity all the way through. white stone tartness and deliciously chewy. comparatively low sugar levels make it an almost off-dry wine.

Wow. I’m amassed how Keller continues to deliver beautiful wines with such depth and clarity year after year. Even though this wine will develop further for the next 5-10 years, this wine is already so delicious and approachable here in 2020. So pure - both on the nose and on the palate. Drinking this wine almost feels like taking a bath in water perfumed with white flowers and citrus. I actually feel more healthy after drinking this wine. Insanely good …

Glass: Zalto Universal Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Clear, pale lemon color. Clean, medium- intense, youthful nose. Lime, herbs, some chalky notes. A bit reductive, very young and not yet open. Off-dry, medium+, nervous and not yet fully integrated acidity. Herbaceous, lime, chalk, some green apple. Medium finish. Nice, but lacks depth and complexity (yet). Obviously very young, better, more harmonious on day two. We will see, how this will evolve. 86-88

pale yellow with a few green glimmers. faint nose of white flowers, brioche and cream, not unlike some champagnes. a whiff of minerality veering towards cement in the back. the mouth is much more ample and generous. lots of ripe mangos and peaches, honey, caramel. amazing sparkly minerality supporting these and easing the flavour combination into a long, pleasantly dry finish. a great off dry kabinett

Duft av blomster og flint. God konsentrasjon. Mineralsk med sursøt frukt. God lengde. Drukket til spicy thaimarinert kylling. Restsødmen gjør den ypperlig til sterk mat, men så fort maten er spist opp blir dette litt for søtt for meg.
