This was my first time having this wine with any amount of age on it. Compared to current release, the tannins have calmed down considerably but are still strong. There is a lot of mineral notes one the nose, along with cooked cranberry and some kind of spice, maybe incense like. The palate is not as dark and fruit forward as current release.

Poured during wine gathering with friends. Appearance: Clear, medium-deep ruby-garnet. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with aromas of cassis, tobacco, leather, white pepper, and herb. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium+ tannin, medium+ body, medium intensity, 14.0% abv with developing flavors of cassis, plum, tobacco, and game with a medium+ finish. Excellent example of Vulture Aglianico drinking nicely today.

My first bottle of this opened in 9 years. I've been pondering if these wines ever turn the table on their intense structure, and this one is beginning to get there. The aromas are not as evolved as the 2011 poured along side it, and quite compact, though gorgeous. It's showing briar, graphite, some volcanic rock. In a very good place right now. Decanted for about 2 hours. Served with grilled steaks. Fruit is more evident than previous two bottles, but acidity and energy remains. Tannins becoming more integrated. Just a very nice bottle!

A very nice wine, I’d buy it again. But I have NEVER seen a wine with as much sediment as this wine has. It’s almost astounding. Sometimes wines have sediment, usually at the bottom of the bottle and you find it in the last glass poured from the bottle. This wine has so much sediment that the very first glass poured was full of skin, and there are large pieces of grape skin stuck to the inside of the bottle. …

Decanted for three hours, and it still seemed a little tight. Scents of faint smoke and dusty flowers complemented lush blackberry, raspberry and currant flavors. The structure and depth impress and suggest a long life ahead. Wait a few years for the next bottle.

Not much to add from my previous TN Wonderfully balanced and with great breadth Beautiful fruit here and again I feel this wine is a rather early drinker, at least for an Aglianico, but does have plenty of depth for further aging as well Very classy without a tinge of rustic notes I you've never experienced Basilicata Agliancio in the past, this would be a great place to start

Médium Ruby. Medium nose, medicinal, camphor, earth, leather aromas.noticeable alcohol. Full body, tannins still present, medium acidity, good intensity of flavours with medicinal, herbs and tobacco leaves. Black fruit barely noticeable. Excellent balance and lengthy aftertaste. Only starting to open. can go many more years and gain more complexity.

Excellent Another vintage, another winner. I didn't decant, but opened the bottle hours before drinking and left a glass open to the air for about an hour before tasting beyond the initial sip. Lots of sediment, however it was bricky and with a clear meniscus showing some loss of pigment. I tried a taste and put right back in the bottle and corked it. Aglianco is not known to be consumed “young”, but at 6+ years, this is surprisingly approachable and excellent! Medium purple core with ruby edges; highly aromatic and flavorful with violets, wood spice, black cherry, black plum; mountain herbs, black tea, black volcanic rock, and dried mulch; underscored with a firm tannic structure balanced with medium plus acidity; and evolving complexity. Finishes long and strong. Worked with combo pizza. In development but should cellar for another 8-10 years (or more).

Nose - turned earth, hookah tobacco, sour cherry jam. Great nose! Mouth - lovely sour red fruits, sour cherry. Really strikes a vișne chord in me. Touch of bitterness on the finish. Have been drinking this cuvee since the ‘05 and the price has doubled but the quality remains impressive and it’s still a value buy.

Far more open than the bottle I tried 2 years ago, with potent tangy fruits, leather, cherry, earth, and tobacco. Sappy on the palate, medicinal and floral. Wonderful stuff. Firmed up a bit with air but was quite giving by day 2. Continues to develop, and really quite impressive

In a great place. Some age, but amazing ripe red and black fruit that coats the whole palate. Tannins are soft and complementary. Leather and sweet tobacco nose. Cassis and cherry fruit on the palate. Very sad that this is the last bottle.

Elena Fucci tasting at Renegade Wines in Santa Barbara : From magnum. Deep dark-ruby color. Black cherry, leather, violet, clove, tea and black olive aromas and flavors, very aromatic. Refined and elegant on the palate with great expression. Intergrated and deep, with excellent tensiona and fine, firm tannins. WOTF.

Inky purple robe; Bouquet dark fruits and liquorice. On the palate, the wine has abundant tannins and acidity, flavors of blackberries and plums. The wine is fresh and youthful, surprisingly firm for a wine 16 years yound, but this is Aglianico after all. Probably opened too soon, but oh so good!

So, on the opening; Titolo’s initial aroma is explosive. Just fantastic. Tertiary dominated though overripe black fruits present. Leather, liquorice, sandalwood. Demands attention. On the palate bright acidic (food wine.....der), and some tannin which is not jarring. Flavours…where to go? Ham/prosciutto, unami, mushroom. Hint of strawberries at the edge. Fantastic vintage for this wine; similarly good but slightly less structured than 2013. Already in early maturity, there’s barbecue smoke, tons of black pepper, pipe tobacco, mulled dark berry and black cherry. Intense back-end tannins are the hallmark, but pleasantly there’s enough fruit to (mostly) counterbalance it. Good now till 2026 or thereabouts.

My first try of Aglianico and it was very enjoyable! Not overly complex but nice red and dark fruit with an earthy side. A nice finish of light spice and leather. A good QPR wine IMO.

Wow, the most pinot-esque Aglianico I have ever had (this might sound contradictory/confusing to you, and I’m utterly confused/amazed too). Constantly shifting nose - initially muted like carrot juice with a touch of lemon, then gained intense cast iron/volcanic mineral and blueberries, then gained wet exotic floral/earthy notes of camellia flowers and its oily seeds, palm, papaya, ruby grapefruit, cranberries, cherries, black peppers and dried red hawthorn (etc etc.). Well-balanced, good texture - tannins are detectable but very nice and fine. Good fruit. There’s a nice pepper element, too. Not black pepper, though. More like white pepper. Paired well with eggplant parmigiana.

This was truly a crazy drink. Brash as Aglianico can be, but with beautiful subtleties becoming of a finer style. Straight out of the bottle, lots of ‘funk’. Almost chypre notes on the nose, mixed with tar, rose and leather. So full on the palate and yet tannins starting to soften. Absolutely booming on day 2, the sweeter fruit coming through, with barrel, cedar and chocolate, the ‘funk’ from day 1 solidly in the background. Pleasant aftertaste. A good ride.

Excellent from PnP and over a couple of hours without decanting *. A wild forest, menthol, pipe tobacco, cherry, mixed herbs - rosemary? lavender?, white pepper, violets, fennel frond, some baked earth and dark fruits. Tannins bite just a bit on the end, but aren't drying and don't interfere with the finish. At times it reminded my of ripe Cab Franc, but also of a dusty mountain Zin, but even less fruit-forward. 14.5% abv. No sense of heat or warmth …

Wow, did not dissapoint, beautiful profile of leather and tobacco up front them opened up with ton of honey with some spice that remained pretty consistent, smooth and silky though it was very light on the palette, definite repeat.

6 hr decant. For all Aglianico’s reputation as forbidding when young, 6 hrs in a decanter did a great job of mellowing this out. Note “mellowing out” does not mean easy or light….this is a formidable but elegant wine. “Dark cherry” does not do justice to the scent - the fruit of Hades’s personal cherry tree comes closer, mixed in with espresso, roast venison(?), burning wood.
