Mastroberardino, Taurasi, Radici Riserva

Great bottle

Have gone over the top. Unfortunately. Everything is there butthe vigour, acidity is simply not there. Had the same wine one year ago and that was brilliant!

Having read other users' notes on this wine, I decided to open a bottle to check its condition. The fruit is pristine, with dark plum and sweet oranges taking the lead. Tea, tar, cinnamon, tobacco complement the picture. Long, savoury finish. A beauty, drinking well now through 2035. Perfect with roast duck. On day two, the texture is rounder and fuller. In other words, no rush with the remaining bottles...

Fading fruit. Not much for the nose left. Smooth tannins. Reaching it's end.

Deep garnet color. Fragrant nose of violets. Medium body. Flavors of dark fruit, tobacco, iron, and sandalwood. Mid strength tannins with a pronounced acidity. The fruit is fading ito the background, but the wine should have ay least Another 5 years before any significant decline.

I was nervous about this bottle. It was a recent acquisition and it had a low fill - a hair above the neck. The cork displayed signs of seepage and required a Durand to extract. Sometimes a wine will fool you. This is one heck of a beautiful wine. Dark cherry, old leather, licorice, and acidity that is well integrated. I couldn't be happier with it.

Always a perfect food wine

Right time to drink this now, powerful wine.

Red bright fruit, some earthy notes, clean, fruity, massively tannic and fresh. Perfect food wine at this juncture but very much of the primary register still so I guess this is good to go for another five for sure.

Un vino maschio e nerboruto, dal tannino incisivo, che si accompagna perfettamente alla carne di cavallo ai ferri che lo ha scomodato dalla cantina. Forse sarebbe stato meglio attenderlo ancora qualche anno per cercare (e probabilmente trovare) qualche complessità in più. Infatti, pur essendo un vino elegante, ad oggi difetta leggermente in articolazione e complessità olfattiva, dove non mostra le sfaccettature che ci si aspetta da un Aglianico di questa risma. Decanted 4 hours prior. The nose is oaky at first but with time in the glass opens up nicely with dark fruits, fennel seed and black truffle. The palate has plenty of tart cherries and volcanic soil with a fruit and mineral filled finish. Tons of fruit and tannin to suggest a long life ahead.

This is robust! Leather, plums, spices, licorice. Very nice on the nose. Medium-to-full-bodied, complex, structured. Firm tannins and a warm finish. Should be stored another couple of years for better accessibility and could certainly be stored for another 10 years. Check out my blog at misternordin.com!

This is a nice food wine, ready to drink today. Open a couple of hour befor drinking. Should be even better in a couple of years.

Munskänkarna Stockholm - Tasting of September releases : Traditional earthy nose with lots of mushrooms, stone cellar and old botti. Elegant red berries, bitter orange, spices and herbs. Quite elegant taste in an old-school way, less fruity than the 04, nicely structured tannins, quite tough but not at all impossible to approach today already. For friends of trad barolo and the like.
