Nice full bodied, "what is right with Napa". Tertiary coming in on the nose, but palate still mostly primary. Tannins there but settling down. Some black pepper and blue/black fruits, finishes more cacao. Very good, not great. Relative to the rest of Napa, a good value; but absolute value is just okay (assuming $60). Drinking very nicely now, but the drinking window is still open for at least 5 years.

More oaky than bretty. Restrained fruit, maybe a bit green/underripe with a sharp finish - but super interesting and pretty well balanced overall. Seems like it could have continued to age for a while just fine.

Lo and behold! Bottles 1 and 2 were a sad surprise, see previous comment. Now on bottle no. 3, the wine is as should be. Good balance, slightly faded fruit, some tobacco and leather. Confirming bottle variation noted by other users. Did not decant. Cork falls apart. Bottle 4 just as good.

Bottles 1 and 2 of 4. I was way too late for this one, crumbling cork. Fruit gone, flat palate. Did not age as expected. But see bottle 3!

1st of 3 bottles in the cellar and I'm hoping my experience was just an issue of bottle variation like previous reviewers have remarked. I decanted for 2 hours but the initial reaction was closed bouquet and on the attack is some unresolved tannin and oak monster. Aromas: Definitely give this guy some time in air. About 3 hours in, the fruit started to show with some of that famed Cain greenness/bell pepper characteristic but not much. I want to …

Bottle variation continues with this wine. This was bottle 4 of 6 in my cellar. Better than the last bottle several months ago. The funk wasn’t overpowering but rather interesting. Regardless, I wouldn’t buy these again because I simply can’t trust a consistent experience.

Seemed more vegetal tonight than the last few bottles. The fruit seems to have faded in this bottle. I think we are past this wine's prime and there is bottle variation to boot. Doesn't help that we drank it after a much younger Napa cult cab of better pedigree.

Super herbal funk upon opening, so much so I thought the bottle may have been spoiled. After an hr, it had completely blown off and it was a fantastic and interesting cab. One of the widest decanting swings I’ve experienced in a wine.

had a bottle at a restaurant and loved it so bought some from the winery. there is still time on the drinking window - the wine is balanced and smooth and for me no bitter after taste, it drinks great now ..I may be an easy "scorer" by this wine is certainly a 91-92+ right now all who were at the restaurant with me raved as well

Actually from my cellar not a friends. This wine is ripe and ready. Very few tannins now. Mellow blended flavors of blackberry, subtle tobacco. Long finish. I have a few more and will finish over the next year or two

Quiet, earthy and petrol nose. Tobacco and dark berry flavor with a charcoal finish. Still a lot of tannins, and not fully balanced. Another few years in the cellar couldn’t hurt.

Young, could age a little, it's a nice subtle blend, very creative, bold to the smell. Berries, very short finish, soft tannins, goes well with heavy food or pizza with meat on it. The bouquet is beautiful, but a little disappointing if was expecting big and bold. I got what I paid out of it, enjoyable, not necessarily over the top.

This was another case of drinking a young wine too young. And a wine that just didn't want to "give it up"! I don't know that it's ever gonna turn into a fruit bomb, so whatever the opposite of that is, is what this is. Great oak, earth and tannin. The fruit is hiding and my never come out. Just so you know what you're getting into here. Should have had it with a massive cheese and charcuterie plate.
