Pra, Soave, Classico Otto

Light, fresh. Perfect as aperitif.

Back vintage tasting from producer. Very cool to see evolution. Some yellow apple, unique notes of orange potpourri, light funk, richer than current vintage. Couldn't buy any though!

This has a bit more going on then most Soave. A tasty mix of citrus dominated fruit along with a touch of stone fruit. I like the orange zest notes and minerality too. 12..5% qlc $15 locally.

A true representation of Soave, and a wonderful one at that - crisp, refreshing, and bursting with flavour. This is a far cry from the simple, tastless, mass produced versions that have given the region a bad name. To start, both the nose and palate provided floral and citrus notes. Riper, richer fruit followed suit with yellow apple, peach, and nectarine. Finally, the savoury notes - a bit of sweet spice and white pepper, with a strong helping of minerality. …

Joint note: beach sand, mineral/chalk/salty, touch yeasty, floral honey sweetness, barn hay, fresh cut young raw milky wood, actually quite a bit going on on the nose; a bit broad and weighty on the palate, high acidity, dilute nectarine juice, very yeasty, finishes a little dilute and short. Aromatically interesting even if the palate falls a little short, for $20 would get again. Very difficult vintage, very nice wine, fresh, bit pungent, good finish.

Has a delightful whiff of citrus blossom to the nose. There's peach, pear and lemon fruits and plenty of mineral. It is compact, textured and understated and an utterly satisfying dry wine that quenches the thirst.
