BYO old vintage Champage (NOTK, Rotterdam) : From magnum. Medium intensity on the nose. Fine mousse. Lemon, leesy, sourdough. High acidity, medium+ finish Slightly unbalanced

Suckling Great Wines of Italy (New York) : At half the price of base-level NV champagne, this is a suitable alternative. Solid acidity, creamy, on the riper side for sparkling chardonnay (plus some noticeable Nero & less obvious Bianco).

A little bread on the nose. Lemon and citrus. Very tasty with a good acidic bite. A great bottle to have on hand.

Wines of Lombardy (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Pear, sweet baking spice, more orchard than citrus, pretty nose. Juicy acid, effervescent mousse, again more orchard than citrus, rasp on the finish. Okay.

Baked apples and brioche. Spoke to me for a bit after the wine went down my gullet. This is a big fat yes.

OUR FRANCIACORTA FAVORITE

No detailed note. The previous note describes it well. Bone dry fruit, fresh acidity, some stony minerality and nuttiness. Quite decent, albeit not a complete standout.

Enjoyed with some industry peeps. One of them called it the "Cristal of Franciacorta" because of the foil which I found to be a funny comment. But outside of that, its still one of the more consistent Franciacorta brands that I've tasted although not exceptional. Bone dry but has good fruit and acid lift with some spiced oranges, bread dough and lemon zest. For the price its a suitable budget alternative to NV Champagne. Drink within the next 3 years.

Grand Italian @ K&L (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco) : Comforting and inviting ripe white and yellow fruits. Straw and minerals add some complexity. Fine bubbles, soft white fruits, minerals to finish along with a hay. Dried earth on the finish. The fine bubbles help the creamy texture here. Great qpr.

Short TN from the Italian Grand Tasting at the big box wine store. Medium gold, medium+ mousse, medium body, medium++ acidity. Nose and palate of baked apples and pears and a lesser note of tart citrus, brioche, earthy minerality, a bit of nuttiness. Crisp, lithe and refreshing. Would be a solid, if middle of the pack, entry vs. NV Champs in this price range. Possible buy at around $40.

Lemon, toast, sweet spice, and mineral nose. Dry, fresh and foamy with spiced flavours and finish. 3.5/5

Annual Pilgrimage to Piedmont - 2024 Edition; 10/18/2024-10/20/2024 : Framed by the magnificent Dom Perignon 2004 Rose ( Papies 95-96) this had a very tough act to follow. But follow it did. Spicy, herby touch, sage and rosemary, soft red fruits. A soft and elegant wine, probably now past its best years but for sure very much alive and beautiful. 92

It’s wonderful. Not too sweet. A little Apple. Pear. Delightful.

Full body, biscotti with lemon zest, apple, minerals in finish. Interesting.

Its a good wine but never strikes a cord, soft confectionary, does the work but no greatness here. 88-89 that ball park

Favorite Franciacorta, we drink every night.

Nose of lemons, light mousse, nice acidity and crisp citrus. Medium+ length with some spice. Great aperitif.

Pale lemon in color. Medium + aroma and flavor characteristics of green apple, lemon, white blossom, dough, and brioche. Wine is dry on the palette, medium + acidity, medium alcohol, and medium - body. Shows defined intensities of primary flavor and aromas. It has good balance between acidity and flavor. It is complex showing primary and secondary characteristics.

Tasted at the Wine Spectator Grand Tour. I liked it. It would make an excellent patio drink.

At the tasting.... Color. Pale yellow Nose. Burner apples. Very austere. Palate. Apples.

Quite disappointing for the little identity it manages to express, the bubble isn't as persistent as you'd like, and ultimately lacks that characteristic that you would attribute to a specific terroir or particularly skilled hand. By the glass as a welcome at The Edition Toranomon , Tokyo. Almost freshly opened . Always better a bit over shilled we feel, bright , soft , very much a variant of an NV champagne to the blind taster. Good maybe lacking a bit of depth but lacking no charm whatsoever . 89-90

Edition 44. I’ve actually had this wine quite a few times as it is my friend’s favourite. Each time I’ve had I had very different impression of the wine and I could probably score it between 87 and 91 depending on the occasion. Medium gold colour and fine bubbles show pedigree. Nice aromas of red fruits on the nose. The omnipresence of red fruit on the palate makes one have the impression of being in front of a basket of fruit. Nice balance with a fine acidity which gives a lot of freshness. Final also on the fruit. A bit limited for the price.

Wow wine alert. Equal measure of precision, purity, elegance, depth and soul, this has it all. Lively mousse, super-fine bead, gilded layers of berry and orchard fruits; long, satisfying and a pretty much meditative finish. If I could have a house sparkler, this would be pretty much be it (but I can't, because no matter how much I buy, it disappears in no time at all). Cepages Holiday Tasting: Champagne & Riesling (New York City) : Drank at Cepage holiday tasting as part of champagne flight. Light pinkish color. Great freshness on the nose, with a slight yeasty, toasty aroma. Medium bodied with quite crisp acidity, red berries (raspberries), lovely creaminess with good length. Also good minerality here. My first experience with this Italian sparkler, reminds me a bit of Bellavista, which I've always enjoyed. A lovely bottle of wine, and one I will certainly revisit.
