Richard Östreicher Sommeracher Katzenkopf Spätburgunder Rosen

New German Pinot, new producer, but as soon as the bottle is opened and the first sniff taken, once again there’s an overpowering wood note and not of the highest quality either. After decanting, the nose clears up, but what remains are some indistinct red fruits, not very complex. It feels rather flat. On the palate it’s pleasant, with nice tension and structure, well balanced I’d say, though unfortunately the finish is marked by an unpleasant woody note.
