Cellar clean-up. This tasting note is for the Spätburgunder trocken. The wine was completely delicious, with a lovely, flowery aroma and taste, and some good, red cherries and strawberry fruit, too. Charming with food. We paid $9.01 on close-out: I got only the 1 bottle and by the time we tried it (November 2014) it was all gone. I wish I had gotten a taste. Best sub-$10 pinot noir, anywhere. Wish it were easier to find in the US. Drink …

This tasting note is for the 2011 Spätlese. This has cool, bright minerally aromas of cherries, strawberries, spice and cinnammon hints. It has a taut, linear, elegant and refreshing medium bodied silky palate with a nice spherical lightly oaked middle, and a medium length balanced finish. A Fine, well-priced and stylish Spätburgunder, at less than 9 Euros retail.

This spatburgunder is very different from all the others I have tasted before. It has a fuller body and the character is more like a french pinot noir than a California or German pinot noir. A soft flowery fragrance reminiscent of German wines comes through toward the finish. My friends who love German wine liked this wine. I will buy more.
