Amazing how this wine has held up for almost 25-years. More than held up; it was delicious!

Not at all tired, very lively for a 22 year old Chardonnay. At first it seemed very light and I was afraid the fruit had faded. But we left it alone for 20-30 minutes in our glasses and it added weight as great Burgundies can do. Not "big" but very balanced, the fruit still evident with a noticeable acidity that made it a great match for lobster on New Years Eve. It was a special occasion for us and this …

1997 Stag's Leap Retrospective (Northbrook, IL) : Marmalade and petrol notes. Round and lush, especially next to the Jadot Demoiselles. Almost Rhone-like in its oily character and tropical notes. Mature. Nice.

very ripe, at first showing quite a bit of alcohol and exotic flavors. Fruit opened up and became more floral covering the alcohol. After a bit there was some purple marker on the nose. Definitely mature, but not oxidized.

Casual Burgundy Dinner, Wine Mostly Served Blind (Carlos - Highwood, IL) : Tasted blind. Okay, it's not Burgundy or Burgundian in any way but this wine showed incredibly well. It is not even close to being tired or faded. Rich and elegant, with a great length. Showed some sweetness both from ripe fruit and new oak but this was balanced, lively and exciting. 93 points.

Full yellow gold. Lovely rich round yellow fruit. Caramel and spicy briar notes. Big mouthful of round yellow fruit and complexity. Still drinking surprisingly well. 5/06

Blind tasting. Rich and elegant with lots of apple and pear flavors and a touch of honey. Also some roast almonds on the finish. Fruit has great life for a California Chardonnay at this age. Long clean finish.
