Restaurant purchase, more or less pnp. Quite enjoyable with dense structure, rather muted dark fruit, mineral and veggie notes such as bell pepper and unripe tomato, sun dried earth and dust. This might soften a little more with some air but overall feels to be in a good stage of maturity

Decanted for an hour. Fourth bottle from a case. Even though this a second wine, I feel it's not reaching its's potential quite yet and the drinking window may need to be extended. When drinking a wine over time you expect it to change, up or down, but this Pavillon is refusing to budge from when I first tasted it five years ago, indicating that there's more to come from this serious claret.

This was not as good as the prior bottle. Very dark in colour, inky plum with no brick on the rim. Colour seems like the wine is still young, but the nose seems more mature and quite soft. Some black cherry fruit with earthy notes but quite muted. Palate is soft and resolved with mild tannins but still nice juicy acidity. Complex and interesting but not outstanding.

Strawberries, cherries, currants, and flowers in the nose, are followed by a forward, early-drinking, light/medium-bodied, red plum-filled wine that is already charming in your glass. The wine is produced from a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 14% Petit Verdot.13% ABV. Drink from 2027-2034. 88-90 Pts

The 2016 Léoville Poyferré Pavillon, tasted alongside the 1979 Léoville Las Cases, was noticeably more fruit-forward, with prominent notes of sour cherry, green tomato, and green pepper. While it displayed youthful vibrancy and fresh acidity, it lacked the depth, complexity, and layered evolution of the 1979 Las Cases. The tannins were still firm, indicating further aging potential, but in direct comparison, it felt more linear and less developed. A solid, structured wine, but overshadowed by the elegance and refinement of …

Post CNY Chor 4 lunch gathering.. over a game of Ngow and modified Texas Hold'em. Light graphite notes, good balance on the palate. Nice modern-style Poyferre house style, from a great vintage. Ready enough to pop and pour as we had this slowly in the glass over 2 hours. Really good value back in the day when I cellared this 3 years ago. Cheers and Happy Lunar New Year 2025. Drinking well, starting to reach maturity. Smooth, balanced, and well integrated. Lots of red and black fruits with structural elements lurking below the surface. Lo g finish. Drink through 2027.

Developing quite nicely with structural components still quite evident and fruits not yet at maturity. A few years ago, I thought the 2009 vintage of this was more readily accessible than this vintage. Tonight, this is right there with the 2009 and I expect this will surpass the 2009 in the near future. Very good for a second label.

(15,5/20) Very nice left bank. Served from open bottle. Rich and powerful, well-integrated oak, lacks bit of length, but this is a super pleasing Bordeaux. Medium intense aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry, red plum, violet, cedar, tobacco, black pepper, bay leaf, liquorice wood. Dry wine, medium+ acidity, medium+ and fine-grained tannins, medium+ body, pronounced flavour intensity, medium+ length finish. 13% ABV - served @ Eos, Flaine (F)

2nd wine of Poyferré. 2016 blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Deep ruby-purple color. Cassis and some red fruits with cedar and spice on the nose. Medium-bodied. Juicy with fresh red fruit, red cherry, blackcurrant and plum on the palate. Medium tannins, high acidity. Tasted more like Margaux than Saint-Julien.

Smelled like good Bordeaux, attacked my tongue like good Bordeaux, but after the attack it develops a chemical taste that tasted like some sort of poison I shouldn't ingest. I tried a couple of sips over a few hours but ultimately had to dump the bottle. No sign of TCA/cork taint. like I said, it smelled great and tasted great when it first hit my tongue but the later palate experience and aftertaste made my body almost feel like throwing …

opened a bottle of this on1/6/2023. Anyone posting a lower score must have had a different bottle than I had. Aroma of blueberry, dark cherry, forest floor jumped from my glass. This is pure Bordeaux at it's finest. Remined me of great wines I've had. 66 Pavie, 75 Latour, 82 Beychevelle came to mind. Will try to find more. 2018 vintage is posting scores of 98-100!. Will cellar those to see how they compare in the future.

Tasting notes since 2013 and you can see the points increasing: it is a slow developer. from magnum. The wine is still very dark pink. Nice aroma, not all too strong. Classic Bordeaux taste, refreshing. Good aftertaste. Certainly 10 years to go. Vintage is king, I suppose

Better, to my mind, than expected. Wanted an inexpensive Bordeaux for Monday night take-out meatloaf if all things. It passed my “decanter test.” That is, when I was decanting the wine, it wafted to my nose enticing me to anticipate how good it would be. Fully open for business but certainly not in decline, this was just lovely. Some tobacco, cigar box, good fruit, cassis, medium length, just terrific QPR. Glad I have more. 92+

Very respectable Bordeaux in a nice spot. Decanting brings out nice dark berries and notes of graphite and minerality. Gentle grip, good structure but tannins are resolved and ready to go. Suggest to drink up in next 3-4 years.

Quick decant and lots of swirling. Nose is muted. Dark and brooding with dark berries and lots of oak on the palate. Seems a bit disjointed with too much oak in the face. Tannins and acids are in check. Medium- finish. Probably could go a few years more but with the oak overpowering the fruit I'd say drink up as this most likely won't get any better.

This was excellent. Juicy well balanced and delicious. Some earth and currant on the nose, more currant and earth on the palate, medium bodied, ripe yet taut with tight tannins and decent acidity - the whole thing hangs together very nicely - yet is drinking well even though its not that sweet. Epitome of balance. Very good long length of finish as well.
