PnP, wine definitely has improved and seems now to be in its early maturity phase, medium to full bodied, full of fruit and almost hedonistic. Fantastic QPR at 22 EUR. The only problem is the 15 vol. % alcohol (the same high percentage 2016).

The nose and mid-palate are actually quite enticing with notes of liquorice and plenty of black fruit. Unfortunately, the tannins are very aggressive and the alcohol (15% ABV) is much too present at the end.

Day 1 : 91 pts. Day 2 : 91-92 pts. Day 3 : 93 solid pts. Clearly this wine has plenty of life ahead, I had to drink it to clear some room in my cellar, I would hold it for a couple of more years. I t really showed its true colors after the second/third day though.

Grand Cercle wines: Mainly 2015 just bottled (Chateau de Pressac Saint Emilion) : This is tasty indeed! This has personality and verve, albeit a bit heady on the finish and - no kidding - as the 15% alcohol is felt! The difference with some other high octane wines tasted today from the Grand Cercle is that this handles the oak well, and somehow comes across as more balanced overall.

2003 Bordeaux tasting (New York) : Never had wine from this producer before; in the blind tasting I thought this was the Bourgneuf. This was traditional, not super concentrated. As a result, there was less tannin on the palate of this. Had a little meatiness, a sweet note. A relaxed wine compared to the others. Smooth and enjoyable, not a lot beyond that.
