Opened 3 hours before a 2 hour decanting. Good medium fruit and earthy notes. Great pizza wine with moderate acid and fine tannins.

Bought this on clearance. 22 years old and was probably standing upright for 20 years. The ulage was good at a good level. The cork was 80% dry, came out in many pieces, but didn't fall into the wine. But the wine was fine. Still ruby in the center with just a little fading on the edges. Oak still present. Not tannic anymore - just smooth. Fruit was there. So nice - I wanted to gulp it.

Great nose of black cherry and black berries with earthy spices. Palate is solid medium fruit with some spice and earthy notes. Moderate acidity and fine dusty tannins. Opened 4 hours prior. Try a 2-3 hour decanting.

This pours medium garnet in the glass. Fairly deep and opaque at the core. The nose is just lovely showing chestnut, walnut, rich plum, a touch of Brett, farmyard, saline solution, and coconut. The palate enters on the vanilla tinged red and dark fruit. Tannin is medium, acid is medium plus. The finish does go a little boozy here showing just a little more alcohol than I'd like. Pours dark ruby. Blackberries, damson, a touch of vanilla, allspice and chocolate. The tannin is tame and round by now. Acidity keeps it fairly fresh but it is likely coming to the end of its drinking window.

Drunk over several days. This wine was fresh as a daisy. Wouldn't rush to drink. Big tannins, but not harsh. Lots of deep purple fruit, pepper, cloves, and tobacco. Does have an oakiness to it as well, but pretty mild. Held up well unde vacuvin for 3 days. stunning QPR.

Mature with leather and oak aromas. Fresh acidity, very fine grained tannins. Complexity with enhanced flavours of leather, spicieness and bay leaves plus some vanilla in the end. Velvety start, tannin finish. Balance and structure. It is mature, but drank very nice over several days. Great value. Loves this wine and its typicity.

Probably a little past its prime, but still damn good. Bright plum & cherry with leather, tobacco, and earth. Framed by toasty oak and acids. May have a few more years at this level but now’s probably the time to drink.

- Brick color with slow forming legs and aromas of black currant, blackberry, black pepper, smokey and coffee. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Round texture with a long finish - Decanted 90 minutes.

You cannot beat this for QPR. Opulent, fresh, powerful, dark purple garnet, just exhibiting some red brick tinge, dark berry and plum fruit, leather, tobacco, earth, spices, fine but powerful tannins, balanced acidity. For it's power it is extremely quaffable. Great wine.

Improved from my last bottle - didn't take good notes. Decanted for ~ 1 hour and paired with grilled Filet. Dark black color with some fine sediment. Tobacco, blackberry, savory notes & black cherry on both nose & palate - more there but these were primary. Medium+ body, medium acidity/ medium tannins and long finish. Very nice. 92+/-

Vraiment un top RQP. Nez envoutant sur les fruits rouges, le cèdre, cassis. La bouche est ample, sur les fruits rouges, la prune, tabac et chocolat. Les tannins sont en début d'intégration je trouve. Longue finale.

Decent bottle though I was a bit disappointed as a previous vintage of this was a favorite of mine. At first I found it overripe (raisiny and figgy) with an oxidative character. Over a couple of hours, other layers developed including game and mocha, along with a moderate refreshing acidity on the finish, though it remained a bit disjointed. Only drank half the bottle so will update on day 2 if better.

A WS Top 100 of 2016 - #18. Understandable. Great wine for the price! Nez de bois de santal, fruit rouge, notes grillées, d'épices...poivre blanc, tabac, cassonade...beau nez complexe ! Un vin très savoureux...fruit mûr...riche, mi-corsé, concentré. Longue finale. Encore un à deux ans mais pourquoi attendre !!
