André Clouet’s “Un Jour de 1911” is a blanc de noirs from Grand Cru Bouzy, built entirely on Pinot Noir from one of Champagne’s great red-wine villages. This bottle was disgorged in 2020, giving it over five years on cork. On opening, a brief and slightly unsettling flash of reduction - metallic, almost mousy - that dissipated within seconds and left no trace. Once settled, the nose is confident and vinous: dark cherry and raspberry, brioche, dried flowers, and a …

I appreciated the intensity and complexity that made it the perfect pairing with spicy and intense tasty food. Very long and full bodied, a bit of different champagne for an excellent price quality level

This cuvée is always good and often great. Last night’s bottle was in the good camp, perhaps a bit muted from travel. We flew with it checked, and it was slightly warm on opening before a stint in the ice bucket. Still, it showed a nice balance between freshness and maturity, with biscuit and ripe pear up front, followed by apple, lemon zest, a touch of ginger, and a hint of coffee.

Purchased 2020 - disgorged 2019. Pale gold in the glass with minuscule persistent bubbles. Nose and palate are brioche, mineral and lemon. Creamy but also bright with the medium plus acidity. Long finish carrying all three nose and palate components. What more could you ask for?

Dgt 2024, It may needs a bit more time to fully develop, very vertical and fresh for a BdN

Good, but I’ve thought previous iterations of this were great. Brioche, golden orchard fruit, good persistence, medium long finish. Others really liked. B/B+

Really nice. My first time with this cuvee—a bottle bought second hand so likely an older disgorgement, though unfortunately it’s impossible to know for sure. Powerful chalky citrus and almond notes, lingering acidity, but delivered in a really silky, refined package. It’s not Krug, but I get where the comparison comes from.

No disgorgement date. All PN from Bouzy. This is more house than grower champagne stylistically. Red berry, fig, cream, and biscuit. Little Krug-esque. Ready to go and charming. Worth the price of admission at $70.

This is a more oxidative than we prefer with its nutty bruised pear and brioche profile. Still proper champagne if you like the style.

This cuvée can be a bit inconsistent, but it’s always good and often great. Last night’s bottle was clearly the latter. It struck a nice balance between freshness and maturity, opening with generous notes of biscuit and ripe pear, followed by crisp apple, lemon zest, a touch of ginger, and a hint of coffee.

Once again I find this Champagne fascinating and so in my wheelhouse (see prior tasting notes). This one disgorged Dec 2024 for B-21. Tourbillon No. 171. Not expecting a fair comparison but I did so anyway with a NV Moutard Brut Grande Cuvee, another Blanc de Pinot Noir, but the Moutard is from La Cote des Bar (the Moutard lot was LBR22*07925). I applaud the makers of the NV Andre Clouet 1911 for its organoleptic profile and consistency thereof across …

Deg May 2025. What a great bottle. Terrific price performance ratio. Charming nose of Williams pears, roasted nuts and butter croissant. Very fulfilling in the mouth. Initially a bit short but after 90' endless. I thought it was an old degorment, but on the (clearly young) cork I could read 25 5. Paid less than 70€ at an auction. 2 bottles left. To be tried again in 2-5 years.

Bronze color, red apples, quite large bubbles are the main reason for not getting higher score

D 2/24. Good but one dimensional and lacking finish. Dosage noticeably high. Given recent disgorgement it might improve with time.

Some Wine Tasted Watching the Chicago Air & Water Show; 8/16/2025-8/17/2025 (Chicago, IL) : Small glass. Rich and slightly bready with good volume. Very tasty in its style. Current release, unclear of specific vintage(s).

Usikker på basevin her, lagret ca 3 år. Flott mineralitet, fresh mousse.

Clouet’s Un Jour de 1911 can range from breathtaking to merely pleasant, and last night’s bottle fell into the latter camp. Several factors might explain the inconsistency. The house shares almost nothing about base vintages or disgorgement dates, so each bottle could come from a different release. Variability within a single disgorgement is possible too, and this bottle traveled from Washington to Florida to Michigan, so travel shock can’t be ruled out. Served straight from the fridge, it may also …

2023 disgorgement It’s been almost 2 years since my last bottle of this. I’m glad I waited. Creamy, citrusy plenty of body and a great streak of acidity. Doesn’t show the oxidation notes that previous disgorgement’s have had, but I feel this is getting to a good spot. I think I’ll wait at least a year until I open the next bottle.
