Doniene Gorrondona Bizkaiko Txakolina Gorrondona

Pop and pour. The grape is Hondorrabi Beltza. From a vineyard called Aldape. Deep, beet red nearly purple. All stainless fermentation. The nose was terribly reduced at first, but with air some black fruit and fennel aromatics show up. Concentrated, this is medium to full bodied and highly acidic. Chalky tannic strucutre looms here as well. For future consumption I highly recommend decanting this. This does have a beautifully silky mid palate with more brooding black fruit and layered textures …

Red fruit, minerality, orange rind, and a good dose of black olive. Meaty in the mouth with smooth tannins and a little zing of acidity. Dark red fruits show, along with the olive notes which carry over. Medium length finish. Nice, tight, well put together. Fun and complex.
