South Africa WIMPS #175 27th March 2024 (La Trompette, Chiswick) : 44% Cab Sav, 44% Cab Franc and 12% Petit Verdot. Dark fruited with licorice and Christmas spice on the nose. Some graphite and hoisin umami notes. With air a little sliced mushroom. Palate broad and giving; tannins fully resolved. A little ground white pepper emerges on the nose.

Medium red. Very intense nose, cassis, smoke, creamy red raspberry, and earth. Delicious intense red fruit and hot earth flavours and a long dry finish. Seems to have years ahead of it.

Decanted for two hours, modest sediment removed. Big nose of new world fruit vinified with Paulliac intentions: mostly black fruit, licorice, dust, graphite, leather and bramble. Drinking perfectly right now--it's late middle aged but not yet a senior. Showed impressively at a blind tasting.

This was my first bottle. This definitely opened up over the evening. A complex new world style bordeaux blend. Tannins 6.5/10. Drinkable and enjoyable now
