Flowers, tobacco leaf, Indian spices and currants are introduced in the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, soft, silky, fresh vibrant with focus on its black raspberries, red plums and cherries. This will be gorgeous to enjoy on release. The wine blends 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the last vintage of Le Pape. The vines are now incorporated into Chateau Haut Bailly. Drink from 2024-2038.

(89-91 vvPunkte) (80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. 6. Dezember). Mittleres Rubinrot.

Wonderful wine. A bit on the softer side for a left bank Bordeaux, due to the high percentage of merlot I’m sure. Very soft and approachable.

Feeling Pessac-Léognan pizzaz, appreciating dry extract #bdx15: whites and reds (Bordeaux, actually tasted during en primeur week) : An atypical Graves given the very high Merlot content of three-quarters and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. Lovely fresh expressions of Merlot, clocking in at 13.8% alcohol, opulent mid palate but never “too much” with pleasing density and smooth structure coming from the Cabernets. Lovely! 90-92+

Smoke, licorice, caramel, sweet cherries and spice, this wine is medium-bodied, soft, fresh and forward with an elegant appeal. Produced from a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine reached 13.8% alcohol. 89 - 91 Pts
