A persistent note of burnt matches in the nose spoke of perhaps an overreliance on sulfur in the cellar. Lovely Chenin flavors, without much sig. of development. Perhaps another decade in the cellar will provide some evolution, but given my ecperiences with oxidation, I’m unlikely to give it that chance.

I have had a few bottles of this wine. I love the rich feel on the palate. This was mildly amber colored and had a rich honey finish. It is missing the mineral texture and typical notes of Chenin blanc. My concern is that this is showing early oxidation. I have one more bottle and am curious but also concerned about how this will show.

Opened with Thai food and, while very pleasant, wasn't particularly memorable. Perhaps my palate was off that night (though a glass two days later failed to impress, too) but it just had little aromatic character for me. Not flawed in any obvious way, though.

Very Good++. Lovely, inviting wine with notable floral expression, some honey, and herbal tones. No real notes, but sips nice on its own and paired very well with a salad of mixed grilled & raw frisée and treviso radicchio with Roquefort, dill, and toasted hazelnuts simply dressed with some EVOO and saba, S&P. 13% abv Of the 10 wines in the Chidaine lineup, four are sec and this is the 2nd driest of them with only the Clos de Breuil …

"Wines in the Garden" (Hermitage, Amsterdam, NL) : Consumer tasting, brief note. Part Haut-Lieu. Powerful and intense wine, rich and honeyed finish.

Classic dry Chenin with apple, brioche, nuts and yeast. Expressive palate, savory, persistent and long. Missing some more complexity (especially minerality / salinity), but this is a super bottle of dry Chenin drinking perfectly now. 17/20

Medium yellow. Surprisingly floral, aromatic nose, along with honeysuckle. Noticeably lighter, less glycerine, and more elegant than most Vouvray. Dry, slightly herbal, and satisfyingly mineral. Bright and good.

Good stuff. It’s got some nice fruit but stays dry, it’s a really interesting wine.

Off the by the glass list at the sister restaurant of Atera. This was really nice. It's got a great tartness but a touch of honey side and round and bright and drinking very well. There's a kindof unctuous side to it (maybe from just the hint of oxidation) and goes down quite well on an unseasonably warm November evening in NYC.

This wine is a Vouvray but because of pettifogging restrictions in the appellation may not be labelled as such. Chidaine is one of the Loire valley's best producers but, in its present state, I liked this wine less than most others from him. My main reservation concerned sweetness greater than I expect from a sec and as a result it was not an ideal pairing with a simply prepared barbue . As always with Loire chenin, it was excellent with …

Simply delicious, this has all its varietal elements in balance. Fine grip with the minerality and acidity providing backbone to the fairly rich though dry fruit. Detailed and balanced, great with food but also a pleasure on it's own. Many years of drinking to come surely. This is the fourth wine of Chidaine's that I have tasted and all have been spot on. An outstanding producer.

Tasted at La Cave Insolite on 6/26. A spectacular showcase for Chenin Blanc's versatility. Saline crystal and mineral driven. Lively acids, very long. It will improve. 91-92.

Bibendum Portfolio Tasting 2019 : Floral, lemon pie and a touch of smoke. Shows some fruit sweetness with decent depth and length. Should develop well over 4-5 years.

Enjoyed at Symbiose in Bordeaux. The wine pours light/pale. Good interest on the nose, complexity on the palate, length and balance. No RS. White florals and a little nuttiness. Nice surprise and a good value.

Glatt tekstur. Høy men integrert friskhet. Medium pluss lang salt og mineralsk finish. Lettdrikkelig sommervin av høy kvalitet. God til Matoma.

Bought on release and stored in a 54 degree cellar. Color is right between gold and amber. Not especially intense, but what is there is very nice. Still has good apple fruit and there's a sweet spice element I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe allspice? Still drinking very nicely.

Remarkable wine, golden hue; tasting of fresh harvested apples; pleasant anise character. Perfectly balanced, finishes dry and could be mistaken as an aged chardonnay. Pronounced honeyed mouth feel.

Rich, honeyed, with a dry, creamy minerality. Grows with air, best only slightly chilled. Probably on its way down as it flattened out over a couple hours.

Soft nose, friendly, musky, gris-like. Classy palate, broad flavours but well constructed. Underpinned with a spicy finish.

Some bottle funk and wet wooly aromas initially, but as it opened this developed nice minerality and some white fruit smells. Dry and refreshing in the mouth, but not austere. The wine showed a lot of changes over 4 hours which kept it interesting. Good effort for a tough vintage.
