Domaine Bruno Clair Marsannay Les Grasses Têtes

(2010 Bruno Clair tasting with two reference wines) Medium-fullish nose, a bit four-square. Dark, tart cranberry, cherry and vanilla oak. Hints of spice and wet earth. Medium body. Quite rich. But also rustic. Raspberry, tart cranberry and dried herbs. Developed. Fine grip and medium finish. Drink now.

My last bottle of 3. Had previously Coravined a couple of glasses. Looked a bit tired, dull crimson, when first opened, nose was fairly closed, a little fruit maybe - seemed fruitless and a bit tannic on the palate. However, it perked up greatly with food (salmis of pheasant in a cream mushroom sauce) and matched this really well, tannins softened, some sweet fruit emerged and overall pretty nice to drink. Don't think it's got a long life from here …

Big floral nose, then violets and cherries. Nice sourness to the finish. Maybe a bit one dimensional but very enjoyable.

Despite the light browning on the rim this is still way too young to enjoy fully. Cola and cherries on the nose followed by a tannic palate with sour cherry acidity. Somewhat short at this point but shows latent promise. Next one in 5 years!

In a very good place right now - I have learnt that his wines need a bit of time and air. Not overly powerful, but at present some secondary notes are emerging, and the leather, mossy underbrush is present (barely). Still fruit forward and light overall, which I guess is Marsannay. Good at this price point.

Medium body. Mildly fragrant licorice and strawberry nose. Earthy palate with blueberry and black cherry flavors. A bit rustic as well. The tannins are a out of balance. The finish is firm. Needs some time to tame down Curious to see how it eveolves

First experience with Marsannay. Served at 63f. A pleasant, but not overly interesting wine. A nice early-drinking Burgundy.

Transparent blusih red/purple color, no core and hardly any rim. Cherry and blue fruit nose. Palate is very much raspberry and currant (red). Nice acidity - very refreshing, and modest tannins with a green/herbal touch makes this vine very enjoyable. Modest length. Upon opening there is a "sting" - almost like alkohol but its not at 13% abv. When airated this goes away, and leaves a very palatable vine. Drink now even if it can be tucked away for a …
