This is during the danger era of Leflaive, but this was quite lovely. It has rounded out with age but still shows bright yellow and orchard fruits. Impressive concentration for this wine.

La Paulée 2022 (Glenelly) : (Partially Blind): Medium green-yellow. Heady, pure fragrant-edged aromas of fennel fronds, minerals, white peach, and sweet spice dusting. A sexy wine with a tremendous breadth of flavour, drawing you close with that melee of stone fruit flesh, Yellow apple puree and mineral rock scree layered with cinnamon & nutmeg. Well, this was consistent with my immediately previous bottle four years ago, and a significant improvement on the dull early bottles. A worryingly full colour, but actually, clean and really very lovely rich, full traditionally-style burgundy. Texture and weight rather than an array of flavours. Went beautifully with a turbot steak and a champagne, cream and caviar sauce. ****

Bottle breathe for 2 hour. This bottle is fully matured, and may past its peak. Still very good mineral, fruit, citrus and shows some complexity, but lack of strength. Medium finishing

Lucky this bottle is in good condition. Impressive Leflaive Clavoillon as always. Apple, citrus, chrysanthemum were offered with matured nose. Overall rich but elegant. Medium to long finishing. Ready to drink and not sure if it will become better for waiting longer.

And again premox - and yet never any acknowledgement from Leflaive or offer to switch to new, even lesser wines. Never buying Leflaive again...

Med golden. A tad alcohol heat on the nose. Loaded with chrysanthemum, caramelised apple, powerful. I’m not entirely sure if this is premox but it does lack a bit of freshness and energy. Given this is a 2007. Rich umami, have this powdery, flower quality to it. Powerful at the finish w a tad of bitterness.

Premox. The days of relying on White Burgundy to gracefully age are long gone. I am now trying to drink my way through what remains of my collection, as quickly as possible. What a shame. I've had brilliant aged examples of Leflaive in the past but after these 2007, it no longer seem that you can rely on this producer to make long lived wines. Caveat Emptor.

blind Origine is detectable, but I think a premox problem- Too much extraction and only some lemon notes. Not really defective but not that potential that could be possible. 90?

Not premox . An enjoyable bottle. Clean but not overly expressive. drank over two days and it was fairly consistent. Would drink up.

Big nose that jumps at you, full of butter (slightly rancid at first), nuts, flowers and citrus fruit. The wine evolved a lot over the hour or so it was drunk, going from what we thought might be signs of premox (slightly oxidative) to a full-on, complex white Burg. A fuller, more intense styme of Puligny, not the lean, focused style I normally associate with the appallation.

First bottle premoxed. Second bottle is dangerously dark but fresher at the open and no hints of butterscotch and caramel. Hints of lemon, lees, some nuts, moderate minerality and citrus flavors. This bottle was still ok but these are now a 50/50 chance of premox. Drink up.

Burgundy WIMPs (La Trompette, Chiswick) : Bright lemon colour, green tints. Trademark slightly smoky, matchstick Leflaive nose, not oxidised! Medium bodied, apple fruit, vanilla, touch of spice, harmonious with fresh acidity and a very good length finish. Decent if a bit unexciting ***1/2.

Pale green gold colour. This wine has a beautiful nose of white peach and nectarine, apple and lemon with a strong limestone character.The palate is intense with excellent drive and grip balancing quite intense fruits of pear, white stone fruit and lemon. In classical shape and a perfect bottle of 1er cru Leflaive.

Borderline but in the wrong side of the border. Oxidatization taking over but still some lively elements there. It was my last bottle and should have drunk it a couple of years ago.

Very good , has more ageing potential compared to the 2006 , , lingers long and has a late picked taste of sugar which is wonderful .

Small Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Dinner (S.K.Y. Restaurant - Chicago IL) : Fully mature stone and orchard fruit and honeycomb. Nicely spiced, slightly sweet. Very good concentration, good+ length. Time to drink up. Slightly more advanced vs another bottle from the same 6-pack opened this summer.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL) : Served double blind to the tasting group. Apple, fresh peach, some dried apricot with plenty of spice and floral notes, especially on the nose. Very ripe, nicely mature, and probably no/ little upside from here. Best to drink by 2020-ish.

Straw yellow. Ripe nose, complex with still good energy. Opened up after 15 Minutes and was best for another 90. Drink up.

Many thought this was the WOTN at the table. It was very good. Classic Leflaive character. Had it next to the 96 Clavoillon which was far more nuanced and leesy. This drank much younger with more energy and precision. More yellow fruits and flowers. In time I am sure this will gain the nuance of the 96. Right now more primary but still very good.

Bright gold. Lovely cool, restrained nose. Powerful but with a mineral line. Chewy in the mouth. Showing well and far better than previously (last bottle 3 yrs ago), this may be coming out of its shell. A final glass left for 48 hrs in the bottle/fried showed equally well with no deterioration. ****

Our First Acker Auction (Marea in NYC) : Just much too much of a chardonnay for my palette and about where I tired of trying them. There's sortof a sweetness and honey to it. Not for me.

[Magnum] Yellow gold. Medium nose of ripe red and green apples, honeysuckle and some florals. Very fresh but none of the Leflaive matchstick / sulphur that is so intriguing. Some minerals. Supremely creamy palate with more red and green apple, pears, and peaches. Oxidizing slightly and lacking the acidity and structure of the '01 Coche enjoyed beforehand. Pleasant texture.

Beautiful Golden Color. Very clean, fruity nose, intense but not extremely complex. Whiffs of evolution (a bit) and élevage (more) are detectable. The wine shows its breeding in the mouth, there is considerable volume with an impeccable acidic backbone which results in a perfect balance. This bottle is really impressive and brings a lot of pleasure now, I wouldn't wait too long if I had had more!

21 Boulevard Dinner (Beaune) : I haven't had this wine since shortyl after release. Back then I found it tasty but very ripe, today the ripeness is even more prominent with an atypical sense of residual sugar and/or botrytis that I didn't particularly enjoy.

Elegant nose of wet oak, spices, camphor, not the typical "Leflaive" nose...a bit lacking Thin, Apple, tropical fruits as well, no middle weight I would say drink now or forever hold your peace

Light gold. Lovely soft honeysuckle and dried herb spice, lemon zest. Deeply flavoured, smooth and with excellent length. Creamy lemon curd, honeysuckle and soft oak spice. Finishes very clean. Good solid weight, softens up towards the end but retains excellent flavour. Best drinking soon.

Cracked this bad boy at my cousin's pre wedding dinner. Drinking epically. Explodes with layers of complex fruit and minerality supported by laser like focus. Glad to catch this in such a great state before possible premox sets in. A superb performance for this wine especially considering the big dogs in their portfolio.

Given a partial decant about three hours in advance. Mid to full straw. Quite fat. The nose comes and goes a bit - hints of minerality, white fruit, some buttery richness. Seems relatively mute overall. Clearly a serious and high quality wine, but not really shining tonight. Opened in advance given a previous note on CT - maybe should have opened even earlier as it was still holding at the end of the bottle. Certainly hasn't deteriorated from my last …

The nose started out slightly oxidised, warm, rich and buttery. With time in decanter and in the glass, it tightens up like a wonder, from the rich almost flabby nose, a rich mineral wine emerges! Notes of lemons, lime, white peaches, stones, classy wood spice. Rich and powerfull on the palate, but with enough acidity to balance it out. Long lasting finish. Golden straw colored. Nose is floral with stone, tropical and white fruits. Palate has round, full texture with some (slight) acidity. Beautiful flavors, but textural complexity is not there. Lacked the tension I was hoping for. Was a nice match for pan-seared grouper as the forward fruit blended nicely with the rich fish.
