This bottle came off a little hot surprisingly, the alcohol was quite prevalent despite its sweetness and richness. Perhaps an off bottle, but I did not enjoy this as much next to the JJ Prum Spatlese. Notes of sweet pear and red apples, but heavily contrasted by the alcohol.

Has all the complexity without the level of sweetness. SFWS class.

Mature wines (Sindre) : Dark amber against bronze color. Nose of sweet fruit, somewhat fortified with honey, dried meat, and tea. High viscosity. Flavors of dried fruit, sweet orange, caramel, and browned sugar. The wine still has lots of acid and is experienced as balanced.

Deep tawny colour. Pronounced and developed colour with pickled plum, dried apricot, honey, caramel, rubber and cinnamon. Pronounced taste of pickled plum, dried apricot, honey, caramel, rubber, cinnamon and wet stone. Long and semi-sweet finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good sweet and well matured Pinot Gris. Drink now or over the next ten to twenty years. Goes well with fruit based desserts.

Lovely wine. Classic noget of Honey and flowers....a little smoky as a Tokay can be but lovely taste. Well ballanced acid and sweetnes. Enjoyed a lot and nice to have 4 more in the celler.

Visit and Tasting at Zind-Humbrecht (Turckheim, France) : Deep yellow. Complex aromas. Lush feel, spicy fruit with some citrus, good acidity. Ironically, this comes through tasting less sweet than the preceding 2 wines not designated as Vendanges Tardives. Very, very good.

A sweet bouquet with scents of toffee, burnt orange, black tea, honey, ginger candy. Quite sweet and even a little viscous, yet held together by terrific verve and a refreshing bitterness. Overall, decadent and delightful. 92-93 pts.

Zind Humbrecht Clos Jebsal 1999. Litt halvfunky nese, voks, aprikos, honning.

With the most amazing ahi tuna sashimi at home. Golden colored and on the young side of being ready as it continued to develop nuances over the course of dinner. Very ripe pineapples, mangoes, apricots, quince, golden raisins and the beginnings of the Jebsal specific inner mouth perfume. Toasted pine nuts and ruby red grapefruits on the long finish as the wine opened. Easily 20+ great years of drinking ahead of it. 50+14+14+9+9=96(+?)

Dark old gold / amber colored. It has honey and some caramel on the nose. I got hazelnut, apricot, and honey mostly on the mid palate into the finish. It still has decent acidity to finish clean but is diminishing with age. Even though a VT, the sweetness is toned down by now but should hold on for a few more years. One would need to like older dessert wines to fully enjoy this one. Drank from a 375.

Rick's birthday dinner (Aquarelle (Austin)) : Suberb. Tasted a lot like a muscat to em. Very grapey and sweet. Went well with chocolate dessert. Has great acid and fruit backbone. Will last for eternity.
