Giorgio Pelissero Langhe Long Now

Pretty much same as last time. This has been pretty consistent over the 4 bottles I have drank. Wish I could have bought more from current vintages but I have not seen it up here in a long time.

50% Nebbiolo, 50% Barbera Same basic notes as before. Better on 2nd day with a decant. A beautiful wine. Brilliant purple core and red edges. Glass staining ....... thicker then expected. Aromas of lavender and violets lead the way, with rich dark berries, graphite, and black tea. Medium to full bodied, integrates the alcohol well. Not a big fan of this wine. The nose is okay but the taste is a little off to my palate. A very dark color and with a powerful nose of gas, wood and vanilla, herbs, plums and cherries. On the palate the wine appears rather unfocused. A little flabby fruit with a weird “smokey” tail at the finish. The tannins are starting to soften up, but the wine is still quite dry. blue fruit, black leather, black licorice, dark chocolate, wonderful intensity...palate leans more towards the darker side of barbera. Nebbiolo notes kick in on the finish, tar. Very nice

This is a power-tower of a wine with an abundance of fresh fruit steaming from the glass at this point - but good depth too. Nice crushed stone and black scents while also displaying typical fresh fruit forward Barbera. A little hard to spot the Nebbiolo at this point. Aging potential - really good now, could be fantastic in 7-10+ years. 92+. Vinous 94

An excellent vintage for Long Now. A PnP wine that initially showed some reduction, funk and wood. But with a few minutes in the glass, the reticent fruits emerge. Medium+ body that needs 3-5 years to fill out properly, but already showing a good amount of length and fine, sweet and firm tannins.
