San Rustico Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Vigneti del Gaso

- Brick color - Big dark and opaque with dusty tannins and dark fruit.

dark and cloudy. dusty nose with some stewed fruits with a hint of turpentine. showing much younger than expected. very hot upon first tasting and very big. after about 2 hours mellowed some but still a fair amount of alcohol on the finish. the fruit is very bright, still ample tannins, and almost tastes cloudy if that's possible. would like to try it again in 2-3 years, but can't.

Prune/rasin/dried cherry nose with same flavors plus some tarry notes in the mouth. Well shaped, with good acidity on entry, some tannin showing in the back, and nice length. Fairly dry, although ripe, dark, and rich. Overall, showing fairly simple now with a bit of a hole in the middle, but very good potential. Try again in 2008.

My first Amarone. Very interesting flavor and aroma. Pruney/raisiny. Smooth drinking.
