(16,5/20) This wine comes from 4 different vineyards in Pommard and was made by Jean-Philippe Marchand. Leaner wine than the 2000. Similar concentration, more elegance but also a little bit less length. More garrigue tones. Dried cranberry, strawberry, red plum, violet, wet earth, cigar leaves, espresso, garrigue, bay leaf, liquorice wood. 13% ABV - Bourgogne tasting Koert Neger

Nose of meat funk, smokiness. Tasted cassis, red fruits, earthiness, soil, tinge of cured meat, bacon, smoke. Complex and drawing. Northern Rhône-like. Enjoyed this thoroughly tonight.

I have now finished the last of 12 bottles purchased from auction 3 months ago, and it (along with another Hospices wine, the 2009 Beaune 1er Cru Pierre Andre) made very good daily wines. The Beaune was better however. The wine is medium ruby red, a touch of bricking at the rim, and offers a medium intensity nose of cherry, red berries, a touch of mineral and beetroot.
