There a slight mushroomy/mouldy quality to the nose (perhaps from the cork). It has bright pomegranate fruit, plenty of mineral and some Asian spice. It is a little lean through the mid-palate.

Tasted a number of times over the past 10 years the impression is clearly that this will only be developed in 10-20 years time. Not much evolvement since last tasting 3-4 years ago. The underlying fruit which is there and in abundance is a bit more apparent but still pached in not so accessible 1995 features. I am confident this will be a gem and patience is rewarded with this wine.

Decanted 4 hours. Young nose, still a bit closed. However, there is good sweetness underlying the acidic back bone. Clean finish. This needs another 10 years, amazing...

Dinner with R&Y and B&A (Home) : Slightly fuller and more ruby than the Chambolle alongside. Plusher and denser on the nose and also on the palate, not so much glossy as slightly sexy in an alluring rather than overt manner. Darker and denser on the palate too, structure a little softer and more yielding that a previous bottle of this and, whilst enjoyable, could really do with a few more years to develop further. Really quite long and persistent. …

Burgundy Revisited (Chez Shama) : Decent nose. Quite light on the attack. More to it than first impressions but quite tight and surly. A vintage and timing issue? **(*)?

Decanted for 4 hours, still a bit closed. However, it is going in the right direction. This wine has never tasted better than now. Subdued nose of roses and red fruit. Quite sweet attack and long persistent soft tannins which makes for a long finish. Will wait another 5 years for next bottle.
