Overwhelmingly sugary when first opened. Apparently 10g per litre is the maximum residual sugar permitted for Valpolicella Ripasso, but this tastes much sweeter. By day 2, it tastes more integrated and there are some red fruit flavours rather than just sugar, but the overall impression is a thin, mediocre wine dressed up and confected just like the kitsch red-ribbon wrapping paper packaging. £14.50

Top value here, intense red fruits but stays focused and precised. If Chiantis acidity is a bit too much for ones palate, this here is excellent substitute, also manages well with similar food. +1 for value. 14%

Bursting with fresh, crunchy, sweet red fruits, vanilla in the back, but subtle, joyfull, plenty of yuothfull enegry, medium weight and food-y acidity. It is hard to beat the QPR here. 14%
