Liked though didn't love this (I think my note from 2011 was much more enthusiastic); quite ripe with a honeyed/slightly burnished tinge to the ripe peach/other orchard fruit flavours, but left me wanting a bit more cut and focus on the palate. This is drinking quite nicely though, makes me think I should open my '05 Kabinett and Sptlese fairly soon as this feels quite mature.

Ripe peaches, apricots, melons, high in both sweetness and acidity, with a high viscosity body, a delicate floral, honeyed, intuitively delicious Riesling

PnP and drunk as dessert wine with friends. No TN. Then followed over three more days. Good level of complexity, which keeps it interesting, but perhaps a bit on the sweet side, and lacking on freshness.

Excellent sweetness combined with acidity that makes this extremely drinkable.

Cork was saturated, pulltap made a core sample. Finally wrestled the cork out with minimal cork bits in the wine. Wine was great - rich sweet fruit flavours, great concentration. Nice complexity with various spice notes. Very well balanced with acidity. Good viscosity. Long, lingering finish made you want another sip. Drinking very well now - no sign of decline.

Not too experienced with this style so I wasn't sure what to expect. Top portion of cork was a bit moldy, initially nose had some unpleasant aromas. After a few minutes, nice nose with citrus notes. Good concentration and acidity. I was expecting more secondary flavors given this is an 9 year old bottle. Fairly sweet with a medium length finish.

Vollenweider Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Auslese AP 2 476801 06 06; $30/375 ml plus shipping from Rare Wine Company; 8.5 pabv; Old Vines Imports, Petaluma, CA. Cork-finished. Just a touch of petrol and honey. Will need to slow-ox for at least 24 hours, even more. Then, lime, peach, honey, …

Drunk over dessert with friends, no formal TN. Very fine and elegant Riesling nose. On the palate apples and quinces, sweet, but very fresh and weightless. Very long too. Beautiful.

Very ripe and lusciously sweet; a basket of orchard fruits in fall with an underpinning of slate. It's quite dense and fleshy in the mouth, but well balanced with enough acidity to keep it from ever feeling heavy and impressive length. I'd love to see where this heads with some more time.
