This bottle was still drinking well and got better as it opened up. Well integrated at nearly 16% ABV, with red and blue berry fruit, earth, leather.

Brambles. Berries, touch of prune. Mid is sweet but bright with red and blue fruit. Juicy with a nice tang of acidity in the back. Fully mature.

Double decanted; notes from day two: Garnet color with slight browning at the rim. Muted nose of dark fruit. Raspberries and blackberries on a medium-bodied, dry palate with ample acids. Relatively long length finish. Probably a bit past its prime, so time to drink up.

Magenta in color. 15.9% ABV. Powerful nose of ripe red fruits, pepper and licorice. Full bodied but lacking the necessary acidity to keep the alcohol in check. Massive, almost port like, Zinfandel. Strawberry compote, raspberry liqueur and black pepper on the palate. Medium length on the finish. Drinkable but somewhat disappointing given how well the Pesenti has performed in recent years.

super ripe and sweet dark fruit. Too ripe and primary. Singular. Like over done amarone.

Really more port-like than dry red table wine. Some nice zin flavors in there but alcohol is prominent. Not a style of zin that I enjoy very much.

Big prune and blackberry fruit, heated spice from the alcohol content. Large scaled and lacking freshness, this is a dry wine best enjoyed for dessert at the end of the evening. Pretty good in that context, served a little more than slightly chilled.

A burst of zin-berry fruit and then a more mellow--even clipped--presence with complexity and nice unobtrusive structure. Won't improve and may even become more choppy; enjoy now.

Big, juicy, lush, mouth coating with a smooth easy finish. Pepper, smoke, leather on the nose.First Turley experience. Bottle is in a great spot.

Spice, smoke, pepper. Incredibly smooth and coating. The years aging in bottle have done this wine well. No rough edges. Smoothed out. Impressive concentration and finish. I do not see this going anywhere soon but it probably is drinking as well as it will get. Excellent Zin.

Tonight the 2007 Pesenti delivered better than every before - to a lovely chicken molé and exquisitely made pulled pork this wine was somewhat of a revelation. The nose offers up that classical Zinfandel tones which can be quite intriguing and lovely: soft shellfish, sun warm strawberries and sweet licorice. Drank as part of a 15 vineyard, 15 person, non-blind horizontal of 2007 Turley Zinfandels. Wines were opened but remained in the bottle for 1.5 hours; only Hayne was decanted. Wines were grouped by appellation. People did not taste wines in the same order. Hayne and Ubberroth were the clear winners.
