Amazing the amount of youthfulness that was in this wine. Poured a very light straw color to the glass. The nose was a hint of butterscotch, but mostly sharp and surprisingly youthful yellow fruits with moderately sharp acidity. Mango, honeydew, a hint of Werther's Original. Ripe peach cobbler, white pepper finish. Chappellet really never seems to disappoint me with the longevity of their wines but I will say this is definitely the most aged Chardonnay I have ever had from …

Solid Chardonnay, with apple favors and moderate oak.

Good crisp Chardonnay. Has a delicious factor. Great nose of apples, lemons. On the palate I get apricots and a slight creaminess with good acidity. Medium finish. Always a consistently reliable producer. Btw if you want a more oak/butter and full bodied Chardonnay, look at their Signature Chardonnay (member only though).

I am a fan of Chapellet and I think they make great wines. However, this had too much oak for me. I also found the wine had a spicy finish that I did not enjoy. Not a bad wine, but just not my preference.

This is a bit difficult for me because I like this winery, very much, and I have enjoyed multiple vintages of their chardonnay in the past. That being said, this one is very heavily oak and, to my way of thinking, carries the buttery characteristic much too far. I guess I am showing another of my prejudices when I report that it lacks acid to give it the refreshing quality that I seek in white wines. All that being said, …

Chappellet tasting at K&L (K&L Los Angeles) : Much softer and a bit more elegant than the Cervantes chardonnay. Less vanilla on the nose, and a bit more complexity on the nose, which shows a little less fruit and has a bit more minerality. Still some oak presence, but here as pepperiness and a hint of waxiness on the palate.

RRV and Napa Visit; 7/7/2014-8/30/2014 (Napa and Sonoma) : Made like the Sonoma Loeb Private Reserve. No Chardonnay on Pritchard Hill right now. Napa fruit comes from American Canyon, a warmer Carneros site, and Red Hen in Southern Napa. Dijon, Robert Young and Wente Clones. Barrel fermented. Cream and Vanilla aromas. Butter. 1/3 new French oak. 50% of Malo finishes. Round ass fruit, but still some decided edge to the wine.

GEMS on Tour 2014-Austin (Red Room Lounge) : Big, and buttery with a great mix of stone fruits and citrus. Nice mouthfeel and a strong finish.

Chappellet Vineyards and Sonoma Loeb Tasting Streamed to 45 Total Wine Stores (Tempe, AZ) : This was a VERY traditional Napa style chardonnay specifically made for accompanying food. The color was a very pale straw and extremely clear. The nose was very weak, but bright, with notes of grapefruit, lemon curd and oak. The palate was a touch sweet, light-bodied with very high acidity. The flavors on the palate matched the nose with a short finish. This is not an …
