Rich black cherry throughout with touches of earth and savory spice. Good balance, maybe on the simple side, but very enjoyable.

Slo-oxed for 15 minutes but the second glass was better. Some attractive dark fruit notes on the nose along with some cedar. The medium bodied palate showed lots of blackberry, black currant, dark cherry and spice, along with some earth and a touch of herb. The acidity was fresh and balancing. Should continue to hold for several years.

Braam, zwarte bes, zure kers, pruim, cranberry, gedroogd fruit, vanille, zwarte peper, kruidnagel, bosgrond, sigarenkistje, rook, leer, laurier. Donker robijnrood. Droog, gem zuur, gem tannines, gem alcohol , gem afdronk. Op dronk, maar kan zich nog verder ontwikkelen. Indrukwekkende wijn, zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Nog een paar flessen kopen.

Villa Antinori has a wide range of wines from very good to world class. I don't think I have ever one that disappoints. This wine is very good for a $30 bottle. Dark fruit to start and very balanced.

Yes, it is over the hill for what it is, but I enjoy Old Chianti‘s and this one was not an exception. It does have a hint of stewed tomatoes, which is consistent with a very aged Chianti. I like stewed tomatoes, and I don’t mind it in a certain type of wine. I paired this with a tomato based pizza and it was an enjoyable combination. Laura tasted it and immediately would not drink another sip. To each his/her …

Appearance: Deep ruby Nose: Medium+ intensity. Predominantly black fruits of black cherry, black plum, and blackcurrant, with red fruits such as red plum and red cherry also present. Notes of cedar, clove, nutmeg, smoke, gamey meat, black pepper, leather, tobacco, and earthy nuances. Some dried black fruits (prune, cherry). The nose is developing. Palate: Dry, with medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, high alcohol, and medium+ body. Flavor intensity is medium+, mirroring the nose with black cherry, black plum, blackcurrant, and supporting …

Standard bearer of top 97 Chianti. Bought at winery. Aroma of clean oak cellar, great legs, normal sediment. All the 97 flavors. Regular sediment ( 12” decanter). Still typical fruit. Really sorry I did not keep this another 20 years- but I’d b dead.

Pale emulsion of shadowy reddish brick , very translucent at a wide, colorless miniscus at the thin Reidel crystal- quite beautiful. The 12" decanter had a wide sheet of the emulsion from the neck, down into wonderful 1" red tinged clear legs. A few chunks made it into the decanter, but a half inch was visible in the bottle bottom. The nose dusty, old and tertiary with quitesavory aromas of sun-baked earth, some dried black cherries, a little bit of …

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and cranberry. It tastes like blackberry, cranberry and cinnamon. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.

Dried black tea on the nose, along with ripe plum. Palate is really interesting to me - more black tea plus an acidic soy along with restrained orchard fruit, perhaps just-ripe italian plum. There is a bit of tingle on the tongue and finish but the tannin is generally very friendly. I have not had this wine before, but it seems to me as if it is likely at a peak, and not going to show any improvement later. Glad …

Hard to imagine that a $30 wine would be among my favourites but here we are. Medium plus intensity clove and tea on the nose and palate while some strawberry is added to the latter. No discernible tertiaries so some more aging is a possibility. Dry, high acidity and alcohol with medium body and tannin. The finish is lower intensity but hangs in for a reasonably long period.

Quick random notes (mostly to my future self): Tannins remove this from the typical satisfying pasta accompaniment. Tannins and copious dregs make this feel like a wine you should savor and may improve with time. But … But, personally, I think it is just OK, and guessing it is unlikely to improve with age. But a reasonable deal for $18. Note, I agree “OK” is a cop out for describing any detail tasting notes. But sometimes, with a standard such …

Den forrige flaske (halvandet år siden) må have været dårlig. Opdatering: på andendagen mere dybde. Mørk skovbund, svampe, chokolade.

Made from Sangiovese based blend with a drop of Merlot, aged in FR large casks and in barrels for 18 months. Medium+ ruby colour. Intense aroma of blackberries, violets, cherries, earth, hint of leather. Medium body, vibrant, nervous and tightly knit, lean structure, fresh underripe cherry flavours signed by pronounced steely high acidity and fleshy medium+ fine tannins, concluded with short finish. Somewhat dispersed structure with overly vibrant and acidic fruity flavours which I am not sure will integrate.

Very Good++ A joy to drink and this last bottle was probably the best of the handful I'd purchased. Similar to my Oct. 2021 TN and absolutely not at all overripe. On the deeper end of the spectrum, but solid Chianti Classico and, of course, a solid choice for the table (this time a simple eggplant and mushroom red sauce pasta). 13.5% abv Empty bottle weight: 456g

Perfect cork and fill. Significant bricking in the glass, though nowhere near all brown. Nose is a nice blast of aged sour cherry, tobacco, and earth- it smelled great. But the fruits were faded in the mouth, lots of earth and cigar wrapper flavors, which I don't mind, but an unpleasant rancid soy sauce on the finish that I was not a fan of at all. This bottle was drinkable, nice with some pasta, but was at it's best 10+ …

Under cork. Deep plummy red in colour. Luscious nose of plum, sweet cherry, dusty earth, black cedar, iodine, ink and graphite on the nose. Bloody luvly! Medium-full bodied, sweet and tangy fruit extract, very smooth tannins, good acidity and a rather plush and round mouthfeel. Fully integrated and very well balanced. Medium ruby with high intensity notes of tea and oak. Dry, high acidity, medium tannin, medium body and high alcohol. Tea and oak again on the palate with some black fruit thrown in creating a medium finish. Could have been improved with a bit better balance which may have emerged with some additional aging along with some tertiaries. Overall very good to outstanding.

Dark garnet. Nice aromatics - wet earth, tobacco, dark cherry. Velvety smooth tannins, plush plum and black cherry, with cocoa, roasty herb. Leathery grip on the finish. Medium acidity. This is drinking well right now and I don't see it improving further, though should last for a few years. No reason to wait though. Excellent with fresh tomato sauce and parmigiano. Modern style, but retains Tuscan character.

From a half bottle. Still a bit of tannin action going on. Needs maybe 20 minutes in the glass to soften it. Attractive, fruity nose. Very bright acidity - strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry. Maybe a little too much if you're just drinking and not eating. Appropriate wine for spaghetti and meatballs and pizza. Not a lot of complexity, but enjoyable with a meal. While it might have a bit of upside potential, I would rather drink it now.
