Classic Rioja style. Really developed with loads of leather, tobacco and spice. I gave it plenty of opportunity but the fruit didn't appear

Excellent wine. Unmistakeable Rioja. Lashings of vanilla, fresh fruit and leathery spice. Packs a punch and has ageing potential. Fruit more noticeable than last time I tried it, so grabs itself an extra half star!

This was nice, smokey, rounded, relaxed, a good bargain.

Appearance:The wine is Clear with a Medium Ruby colour. Nose:The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Medium(+) intensity primary aromas of red cherry, raspberry, black cherry; secondary aromas of smoke, vanilla and tertiary aromas of leather and mushroom. Ingrid was picking up some Xmas-sy notes: Burnt Orange. Palate:The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium(+) level of acidity. Decanted for an hour, this is coming full bodied, meaty, smoky with juicy blackcurrant very delicious and ready for drinking.

Outstanding bargain. Here's hoping Majestic UK can again convince Spain's La Rioja Alta winery to make this wine under contract - in any good vintage. 2010 seems to have been a stellar one. Also, an outstanding opportunity to be able to buy 'aged' Rioja - well, at 8 yrs old anyway - off the shelf in the UK. Long flavoured, dry, complex, smokey. Charming. Utter utter bargain at the price Majestic were asking for this in Dec 2017.

Bought £10.99 Majestic UK. Made for Majestic by highly regarded La Rioja Alta at their Torre de Ona Winery in Rioja Alavesa. Not decanted. Very drinkable/gluggable big soft red that at 8 yrs old is drinking perfectly now. No surprise it has class, given who made it for Majestic. Outstanding bargain. Big and soft but with acid too, some oak, heaps of dark chocolate, and coffee (Mocha). Smooth. Drinking superbly but not yet fully mature, probably going to devel' further …

Had with Xmas dinner at my Dad's. This was consistent with previous notes and managed to work well with both the Turkey and the Beef.

Made by La Rioja Alta Drunk over lunch hence short note but I was so impressed, lots of mature tobacco notes, strawberry fruit and melty tannins. Tastes like an old school reserva in a good way. And it's £10.99 which is total bargain. Going to be my wine for Xmas entertaining

Benchmark Rioja Reserva just as it says on the label. The plummy smoky aromas lead into a rich flavors of dark and soft berry fruits with the smoothest tannins to support it and a long red berry finish.
