This wine was in it's element. The old wine funk blew off in 5 minutes and it was like drinking an older Chianti Reserve. Medium bodied, with cherry and blood orange notes. Tobacco trailing notes were light and enjoyable. My last bottle.

Oak. Oak. Oak. Did I mention Oak? Biting a barrel may give a lesser impression of wood. Oak indeed. Sadly it is clear there is a wine underneath all this terribly oppressive wet blanket of wood. This wine is nearing peak drinking. Garnet body- brick colored edges. Rose flower petals crushed. Then after some funk blows off thyme and orange rinds. Crushed red flowers and fruits. Reminds me of some older Chianti reserves. Very nice. I bought this at the winery in 2014.

We visited Italy recently and fell in love with the Brunello Di Montalcino wine. This is very close to that! Visited Sonoma in the same year and joined the Petroni wine club. This is made in the Brunello style in Sonoma. Highly recommended to get a taste of Italy! This is a great wine!
