Stephen & Walker Trust Winery Limited Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain

A somewhat enjoyable sipper (paired fine with some awesome Old Chicago pizza), but seemingly on the decline. Flavors were a little plumy, with muddled black cherry and some cedar-earth notes. A bit of a loose grip at this stage, lacking some mid-palate concentration. A flatter, soft attack with a fleeting finish. Still some pleasure here, but past its prime; drink now...like yesterday. 87-ish points.

Really nice fruit that is dark red and enjoyable. It has been measured a bit by age and is drinking excellently right now. Nice finish and well balanced.

Initial aroma right after opening - close, but promising nose of stewed cherries, bright red/stone fruit, "good wood", vanilla. Initial palette of plum, but vivid dark fruit. Two hours after decant (Thanksgiving meal). Opened up with more floral and spice aromas. Vibrant acidity with well-integrated tannins. Enjoyable as a standalone, but definitely meant for food.

Really nice, fruity nose. Less going on on the palate. Pretty light- to medium-bodied. Medium tannins, not too hot on the back end.

Did taste like the Howell Mountain I'm used too!

S&E Wine Club - a night of 93+ red wines (Our House) : A very light hint of earth on the nose. Good strongly moderate tannins. Medium to light bodied overall - with a fruitness almost reminiscent of a South American cab - may be worthy of a couple of additional points but it was up against strong competition tonight. Pleasant and on the lighter side given the high mountain fruit.

Big full bodied wine with plenty of structure and a very complex finish. Casis, plum, and chocolate

Good bottle but nothing quite stands out on this that is worth mentioning. Give it plenty of air.

Very firm tannis may get slightly better with age.
