Domaine Sylvain Pataille Marsannay Clos du Roy

Very cool surprise, evolved but very lively and fresh, herbal and stony.

five years later after my first bottle, the second shows surprisingly little evolution. mid-pallate seems to have become a bit thinner, making it resemble a well made cabernet franc although without the tannins. a fine wine nevertheless but i'd expected more.

This is a surprise! It is not really a typical Marsannay. A bit dirty, and obvious granite. Opened after approximately 1 hour. Less fruity than I thought but with good character. I like it.

Drank this along with a pheasant and autumn vegetables. Burnt/smoked nose, primary fruit along with a persistent smoked taste on the pallate. Medium finnish. Might benefit from one or two more years.
