La Paulée 2022 (Glenelly) : (Partially Blind): Put into Grammerly: Light ruby in colour. A fresh and lifted and fragrant nose with dried autumn leaves, Sous Bois and plum. Clearly, with some age, the wine is savoury orientated, intense on the mid-palate with plenty of material on the mid-palate giving some sweeter dark cherry and black plum fruits dusted in cayenne spice and some iron fllings. Cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet almond, fig, black pepper, coffee, tar and even a blue cheese aroma are all present in a gentle, almost shy form. A day later, this is much better. The nose is still good, showing fruit, licorice and mushrooms. The finish is really great now, slowly working its way to the back of your tongue, lasting 30-40 seconds. The palate is still disappointing, not nearly approaching the "lush fruit" that I was promised. I maintain my previous statements regarding QPR - This isn't worth anywhere near $180. A nice wine experience? Yes. Worth the $? NO!

Lord help me did I ever want to love this wine. The vintages consultant spoke very highly of it, and it cost a whopping $180 CAD. The nose has licorice, berries, some earth. This is probably the most enjoyable aspect of the wine. The palate is downright thin and watery. It is sour and shows little fruit or earth.
