Still medium yellow. Nice fruit aromatics of peach and citrus. Fresh and bright with terrific persistence. The oak is well integrated which to me means barely perceptible. A lovely mature-ish, dare I say old style, white burgundy. A ridiculous value.

I bought quite a few of the 2002 Red & White Burgundy wines on release and properly stored them. This was served at 50F with grilled chicken and peppers and it was fantastic before the meal over drinks with friends as well as with the meal for some. It is still bright golden in color and has medium body, perfect balance, and a nice finish. No concerns of being past its peak.

Light golden yellow in color. Captivating aromas of white flowers, orange blossom, nectarine, toasted spice and a hint of truffle. A lush palate follows through with silky, sweet orchard fruits, citrus and nut oils, medium acidity, a fat mid-palate and a long oily finish. This is indeed superb 12 years from release and is punching way beyond its price range.

Opened and had about a 5 minute window with some stone fruits and floral notes. Wine had a deep golden color indicative of a fully mature wine. Finished oxidizing in the glass leaving an umpleasant, mineral aftertaste, not drinkable; Inspection of the cork revealed signs of seepage about 1/3 - 1/2 up the side, probably from heat exposure along the way before purchase.

Something was really off about this bottle. Their was little minerality and not much fruit, but the acidity was there. It got a bit better over the hour we drank it, but not enough to really feel like something was going on. For the price ($55), this was a huge let down. I'm normally impressed with Girardin, but that generally goes for his cheaper wines. Maybe that's the key to Girardin: focus on his cheaper stuff.

Tons of rich guava and dark citrus intertwined with chalky minerality throughout the nose and taste. The finish was a bit flabby due to waning acidity, but all in all, it was a pretty good white burgundy. There was just something missing that didn't boost this wine up to the 94-95 level.

This is my last. I purchased a case on release. I popped and poured at cellar temp (58F). No sign of decline in the color or aromatics. Its balanced acidity and soft mouth feel are still hanging in there. See my prior notes. I feel this it peaked but should stay at this level for a year or two, properly stored. Tasting Group Dinner - Burgundy (Cafe Levain, Minneapolis) : More exotic and tropical than the '02 Girardin P-M Combettes, tasted side-by-side (see TN). Also more evolved. Caramel, grapefruit, lemon, and coconut. This shows plenty of oak but manages to stay in balance. Long finish.

Tasted unblinded at the Vintage Wines, Ltd. wine bar. Bright disc. Light straw robe with clear rim. Clean nose, showing very intense peach, mineral and pear aromas. Light to medium-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity and similar flavors as for the nose. The mid-palate thins a bit but the flavors are resurrected in a medium, crisp finish. Short-term aging will likely allow the middle to fill out.
