Slow oxed for 8 hours before serving. Deep nose with flower petals, stems, chambolle violets and minerals. Palate was silky and elegant with that hint of signature girardin oak. A good if not great les amoureuses. Drinking at its youthful peak with a long life ahead.

Complex and intense nose, lots of depth, slightly too vegetal for me, minty, spicy, mineral. On the palate very good concentration and balance, good acidity, a little saline. A bit lean at first, this opens up impressively towards the finish, which is long and detailed. No rush. 91-93

1999 Red Burgundy with Richard Brazier (Handford Wines, London) : Beautiful nose, openn, expressive, savoury notes too. Light floral too and kept improving in the glass. Young wine and full of promise, touch restrained on the palate albeit red fruits show nicely. Grippy on the tannin, firm and time would help here. Wait 5yrs but this is def worth the wait. 93 (Was scored 3rd on the night by the group)

I brought this bottle to a BYOB restaurant with 2 friends. This bottle is just as wonderful as the last bottle I had. On the nose this is intoxicating and spellbinding. I could smell it for hours. My friends (and the chef and our waiter that I shared this with) were all blown away. This is still one of my favorite wines and a great example of why I love Burgundy. The next day I woke up with it's smell …

Une robe rubis foncé, encore jeune, nez évolué, terrien, bois humide, baies écrasées au palais, framboise. On ressent une légère pointe acide à l'attaque mais un bel équilibre rend le vin aussi caressant que la soie et témoigne d'un vrai respect de ce noble cépage. La finale manque un peu de longueur pour un vin de ce prix malgré le raffinement en bouche.

Color is a nice shade of purple with red on the edges but still transparent. Nose is very nice with notes of forest floor, dark fruit, and a hint of spice. Palate is a great mix of dark berries, minerality, some earthy smoke, some spice, a hint of licorice, smooth and dry tannins, good weight, good acidity and good length. This is a wonderful burgundy and continues to be one of my favorites. This also remindes me of the style …
