Balanced, fresh, pure, with lovely fruit. Tasted it a year or two ago, and it seems to have lost a bit of the baby fat, but gained in complexity. In contrast to other notes, I thought a rich food would overpower this - something lighter and subtle would better fit my palate. Next in 2-3 years (2027-8).

Pale yellow gold in the glass. Medium bodied, creamy, fresh melon and tropical fruits on the tongue. Medium intensity with balance in play - structure balances the distinct fruit palate. The type of gruner that you can sell someone on its powers of seduction. Perhaps a touch of a warm vintage in it's profile

Genka Wine Fair (Divani Hotel) : Dry vintage -/- The nose is quite different to 2021, the fruit is riper, stone fruit, apricot, peach, the green fruit and the herbal notes come together. The palate follows the same pattern as the nose, the fruit is round, ripe, the acidity feels lower, the texture is round, lime, med finish. There is a green grapefruit-y element lurking here in the back

Technically a very good wine, but to me needs rich food to balance it out and show it at its best. It’s quite rich and fruity with peach, apricot, honey, passion fruit, pineapple, and white pepper flavours. Rounded acidity, textured, a slight fruit sweetness and very long finish.

Pale yellow color. Lovely stone fruit nose with prominent apricots. Nice lemony tang, mouth watering acidity and minerality on the palate . Very pleasant wine to drink now and it matches well with a variety of foods .

Belle amplitude et bien nourri. Des pommes et des poires avec une belle acidité. Assez long et bien persistant en finale. Super bon!

Somewhat smokey nose of dark spices, pear skin, tobacco, mirabellen. Creamy palate of smooth yellow fruits, with wound up concentration and a finely-chiseled acidity. The mirabellen, grapefruit, lime, and pear tastes linger on the long, creamy, salt-and-white-pepper finish for an impressive amount of time--actually, the finish is as enormous and imposing as a highly extracted Burgundy. No wonder the wine critics are going crazy about this producer... Although it is already showing alot, one senses even more latent substance under …

Floral nose, rich baked apple flavours with honey. Slight spiciness and very long. Acidity feels low without food, but it transforms with food to something more balanced, lighter and interesting.

Wine Spectator 40th Anniversary; 10/21/2021-10/23/2021 (Marriott Marquis) : This surprised me as I thought for sure I'd prefer the red wine as the pairing but I found myself coming out here. It's very fresh, some white fruits, a hint of green, it just balances the fried pork so well and pulls out flavor and calls less attention to the fact that the food is served room temperature.

Grüner Veltliner (Schloss Gobelsburg, Austria) : Flight 1, Wine 3: All in large casks. Light to medium yellow gold. Ripe yellow fruit, ripe apple, ripe citrus, lactic notes, light earth, and white pepper spice, with good acidity, and very good length. Good body and concentration, and a smooth, buttery texture.

Hay in colour with a green tinge. Fruit notes on first opening. Green apple and stone fruit (peach and nectarine) with some blossom notes. Needs to be drunk north of fridge temp for the fruit to shine. Pepper finish not quite there when first opened but develops some time after opening (c 1 to 2 hours). Good long finish. Delicious

Weekend in London; 5/12/2017-5/13/2017 (Ledbury, Il Baretto, Hedonsim) : By the glass at the Ledbury. Decent acidity. Lots of almost a wildflower honey in the background. Really enjoyed it. Was great with the scallop especially. The acidity also cut the fat in the egg. Very tasty.

Gobelsburger is Austrian for good: terrific wine for the price. Straw color with goldent tints; ample bouquet redolent of petrol, somewhat luscious on the palate, some mineral quality and tropical fruits.

Bright yellow green; subtle nose, green apple, tart yellow and green fruit, subtle spice, salty, white pepper; broader on the palate, more viscous texture, tart green fruit, struck match and tingle on the finish probably from some sulfur not visible on the nose; good.

Straw yellow color; subtle nose of white flowers, faint white pepper, salty minerals, and light apple and pear; starts a little non-descript with more effusiveness in the back exhibiting the same flavors as the nose with some green vegetables added, fairly delicate body with a nice sweet apple and pear finish; clean, simple, and tasty.

Fermented with natural yeasts and aged in old 2500 liter oak casks. Deep, concentrated emerald green color; one of the most concentrated green-tinted colors I've ever seen in a white wine. The expressive nose is at least as intense as the appearance with powerful aromas of aromatic green herbs, fresh pear, wet stone minerality, complex exotic spices, some underlying tropical fruits and even a touch of darker, red-toned fruits. The wine feels very ripe, concentrated and expressive on the palate, …

Unscrewed and poured. Refreshing, verdant aromas of herbs and minerals. Clean, dry white fruit and mineral water flavors up front. Pleasant sweetness in the finish. Interesting but not complex. Pure flavors, firm backbone, a bit of petillance. Very nice Gruner at a very attractive price.

Blind tasting at Halvor's - ham and cheese combinations (Risløkka, Oslo) : Light flaxen colour. Very green/herbal on the nose. Also some tropical, like green bananas. Some residual Co2. Full-bodied and fat. At first very green on the palate, but you can feel that there is a lot of debt and potential there. Tight and long finish. The very green and herbal character made me guess Sauvignon Blanc from outside Loire. The wine is very young and primary now, but …

The nose was intense yet soothing, showing ripe peach, hints of citrus, wet rock and stony minerals. On the palate, it was fresh yet lush, seeming to touch on all of the senses with notes of sweet stone fruits, citrus and inner floral tones. The finish was long, turning slightly tart, tinged with green apple and minerals. Followed over the course of twelve hours and loved every minute of it.

91 points on day 2. As Keith indicated below on 9/1/12, this is a 'day 2' kind of wine; it showed surprising gains in depth, complexity, and a sweetness of fruit that I would not have predicted from it's initial performance. It was austere immediately after opening. Patience is advised, even at this lower level. Open at lunch if you're going to have it with dinner right now.

Dinner at Ledbury (Notting Hill, London) : Wow. This was quite a stunner of a Grüner Veltliner, possibly one of the very best I have ever had. It introduced itself with a very nice nose, where a little touch of earthy lentils was shaded by riper stone fruit aromas, a nice line of slatey mineral and a lilting waft of white flowery accents. It was on the palate where this really shone though. This coated the mouth with such beautifully …
