Deep purple color with black raspberry, plum, cedarwood, damp clay, dried herb aromas with a hint of smoked meat. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with juicy acidity and dusty tannins with plum, blackberry, boysenberry and black raspberry flavors with a savory spice undertone. 12.8% abv| SRP - $28

Deep ruby. Very mild funky floral nose with Blue fruit and herbal notes in the mix. On the palate medium acid, medium alcohol, strawberries and raspberries, medium finish. A bit closed down, best on day 4.

Bright purple color. Nose of black cherry, a bit of plum, sweet baking spice and a little pomegranate. Similar flavors on the palate with dark, juicy red fruits along with some peppery spice. Slightly tart on the finish. Medium+ acidity, medium tannin and body. Light, easy drinking red that would be great at a summer bbq but still engaging to drink.

Pleasant enough red but nothing that really stands out with this bottle. If anything this bottle feels like it is fading a little.

Bright, high toned Mourvèdre. Good with food. Best after some air. Just a little astringent/bitter on the finish but otherwise it is an easy drinker.

Dark crimson in color. 12.8% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, earth and flowers. Medium body with ample acidity. Light, crisp and refreshing. Cherry, earth and minerals on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Absolutely delicious wine that is so easy to drink and true to the Sandlands style. Best over the next 2-3 years.

This one took me on a little ride. At opening, it was light, bright, with plenty of red fruit. Day 2, it had put on some weight, the fruit had receded almost to the point of non-existence. Really lifted bright red fruits with a savory element. Acid sticks out a touch but very refreshing and paired really well with a spicy shakshuka.

Vibrant and youthful but brought a bit of cedar and herb to the party, reminding me a bit of my favorite Turleys - the mountain zins. good. a bit of a milk-chocolate note which I don't know what to do with... evaluated as wine, this bottle is a nice evening companion. as mataro/mourevedre, it hits an in-between spot where i might instead go for super-rustic (bandol) or super-zany (dirty & rowdy).

As many have said: really interesting stuff. Crunchy red fruits up front give way to darker fruits behind them. A little black pepper and spice, but not too overpowering. Was a bit tangy at PnP, but that mellowed off after about 30-45 minutes. Nice stuff. I would probably have pegged this as a Pinot Noir before a Mourvedre. Worked well with salmon filet, but could stand up beautifully with all kinds of poultry.

Smells like sweet tobacco leaf and dark fruit pie. Tastes like the best effing wine turducken you've ever had - juicy cranberry stuffed in plum compote stuffed in edible velvet covered in dust. Yowza, if this is CA Mataro, sign me up. Core of red fruit gave way to the darker stuff, after some time. This has me wondering if eh D&R wines will take on a similar profile once they put on some age.

Bright, translucent red color. Pretty cherry and sandalwood scent. Really nice balance of cherry flavor with a bit of grip, a bit of wood tannin and juicy acidity cleaning up the palate. I'll go with the community rating of 92

Didn't love this as much as last time. The fruit is fading and the acidity is overwhelming on the palate. Beautiful nose so I had high hopes. Decanted for about an hour. Had with roast chicken. OK with food but not so much on its own

Light purple in color. 13.6 ABV. A blend of vineyards from Amador and Contra Costa. Appealing nose of red fruits, baking spices and kirsch. Light to medium body with fresh acidity. Cherries, strawberries, citrus and minerals on the palate. Bright, elegant and delicious. Light tannins on a medium length finish.

Lots of hype for the winemaker and this is a lean, elegant and beautiful wine that has a wonderful and fresh acidity to complement it's medium bodied and classic Mourvèdre nose.
