Rich fruit vibrant fruit despite the age. well rounded, fine tannins, lovely harmony.

This would be a fantastic "ringer" to take to a guess the wine night. The wine itself is very expressive, very open and approachable and unquestionably merlot, but would never be guessed as being from Marlborough. Don't think this bottle was in perfect health as after an hour in the decanter there was an edge to the wine and the second glass was discernibly different.
