Would not have guessed this as 1989. Zippy acidity, beautiful blend of raisins and citrus, rich nose. Could drink this all night.

Cooler vintage in Tokay Late vintage rains in September, October too much rain and diluted the grapes. Pale gold colour, Citrus on the nose, lemon, very fresh, strong botrytis notes on the nose, Fresh acidity, clean, more citrus, strong honey taste. Drinking well now.

Marmalade in colour and to some extent on the nose. Not the most nuanced. It's entered a sweet/dry phase where both sugar and fruit are starting to succumb to the acidity. Fairly clean and an interesting dessert pairing.

Dark amber. Noticed orange citrus on the nose and orange and apricots on the palette. Nice bottle. *3rd night celery, caraway, light raisins and all around pleasant aromatics. Beautiful. Having had two beautiful aged bottles of Tokaji that were so complex and beautiful. Tokaj region is definitely a contender with the best of Europe next to the best regions of France and Southern Germany.

This bottle was served as a part of the celebration of a friend's 30th birthday. The wine is translucent brown in colour. In the nose the wine feels quite aged, there are notes of dried fruits and some smoke. On the palate the wine is sweet, has medium acidity and great length. It shows notes of ripe pineapple, raisins, figs and peaches. The wine feels quite weighty and developed, revealing some toastiness and a hint of smoke as it opens …

The nose isn't especially rich or obviously botrytised, with some marmalade character. Medium sweetness only. quite high acidity. Possibly drying a little. Quite long. Interesting rather than fine.

Fabulous nectar! Great balance of sweetness and acidity. Aromas of honey, caramel and chocolate. Complex and very long. Amazing partner of a cigar, or simply to enjoy after dinner on its own. Obviously, can age for another few decades.

Early Spring Homing Pidgin (Home) : Delicious wine. Icing sugar and unripe tropical fruit on the nose. In the mouth there is an intense flavour of apricot, plus honey and shortbread, all counterbalanced by bitter marzipan. My only bottle of tokaji and I will now seek out more...

Bottle was a gift that had not been stored properly. Aromas were on point, but flavors were off.

Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club" Hungary (@ MM) : Coffee, caramel and a firm amount of sweetness. No more notes and no score.

Well made, balanced, medium plus acid. More oak than is necessary, which may always be prominent. The wine needs time to evolve, say five to seven years, and should last through 2030-2032. 92-93.

decisamente ossidato, non ha molto da dire. In bocca l'acidità è ancora presente ma l'aromaticità del vino è tutta su note poco interessanti: noci, vinile, frutta fermentata.

Marmalade and honey! Palate deep and rich, though plenty of acid. Good round and full feeling. Perhaps not as intensely sweet as the nose prophesied. Not cloying at all. Seductive indeed. Very clean and stylish. I like this a lot, more so than previous Tokaji I have tried. None of the slightly maderized sensations I've come across before. Delicious and moreish - the opinion shared by others at the table too.

Rik duft av tørket frukt, aprikos, stekt banan, botytris og med hint av sherry. Fet og sødmefull i munnen. Bløt og moden frukt med bitre ettertoner. Flott konsentrasjon og fylde. Lang, fet ettersmak. 90-91 P

Drank at Lunch A lovely Tokaji that has a huge complexity of honey, brown sugar and some spiciness to the finish. The 5 Puttonyos is sweet but not to over the top and goes very well with at the end of a meal. A lovely example of how to make good Tokaji in the traditional method

Team dinner (@ Home) : So incredibly young, excellent fruit, powerful and concentrated, very high acidity masks the sweetness, immensely energetic. Perfect with lemon tart. Now - 2030.

Brilliant amber hue. Deliciously expressive nose of raisins, sherry, honey and sweet yellow fruit. Unctuous texture, taste of dried apples, honey, orange marmelade, and again sherry and raisins. Great acidity; should keep for at least 5 more years at this level without any problem.

Walnuts, marmalade and citrus with a hint of spice. Strong backbone of acid hides the sweetness well. Very well balanced, oxidative older style of tokaji. No hint of shortcut fortification on this wine. Delicious! Really grows on you throughout the night. Make sure you don't share with friends or family or they will all be gone!

Undistinguished, very oxidised and musty/fusty/woody. Pleasant but not a hint of the sweet/sour fruit action which makes Tokaji into sex bomb it can, and ought to, be. 83P
