End of night and end of palate but this seemed ok. Kind of lean and oddly flavored.

Billecart-Salmon Champagne, Burgundies, Rhones, Bordeaux etc with Sebastien, Brandon and Maciej (Museum Hotel, Wellington) : Colour deep red. Nose shows clear bell pepper aroma. Clearly Cabernet Sauvignon signature, with some age showing aromas of tobacco, cigar box, herbs and dried leaves. On palate, a classic claret, English-style Bordeaux, not from a blockbuster year. Succulent, mellowing with beautiful acid balance. Flavours of tobacco, dark cherries, dried herbs, leather and brushwood. Suave, fine grained tannins, fully resolved. Well proportioned and long, finishes …

Fragrant cedary oak, graphite and ripe blackberries fruit. Classic mineral notes from Pessac-Leognan. Palate is elegant with the flavours from the nose, following through from entry to finish. Good layering and intensity in the mid-palate. Finish is deep and lingering, just a touch hot and spicy. Need sometime in the decanter. Good attempt for the vintage.

Good quality cork, very tightly seated. 13% alcohol according to the label. Ruby red with a touch of orange towards the rim. Shy on the nose, with a lot of aeration you get a strong impression of beet-root and hot pebbles on a sunny day. In the mouth, notably harmonious, red fruits, more beet root, tobacco leaf, earthy, nice acidity, tannins almost melted away, pretty long, sweet finish, delicious. A really nice surprise as I feared it might have been …

Color is showing a broad band of rust/orange at the rim, and is still a dark ruby in the center of the glass. The aroma is dominated by pronounced tobacco/cigar character, with wisps of cassis, espresso, cocoa and vanilla underneath. Cool on the palate, with initial impressions of berries, plums, cherries, and a hint of pear and fig, crossing into earthy, spicy, leather on the finish. Medium body, lively moderate acidity and rich, ripe tannins give a closing feel of …
