Waimarie Chardonnay Waimauku

Murawai Area Visits with David (Kumeu, Auckland, NZ) : Spiced sour pear. Bruised apples. Calvados (apple-y acetaldehyde and oak). Fruit is a bit light. Smells and tastes like mostly neutral oak barrels. Dry, medium body, medium alcohol, elevated acid. Light midpalate fruit - this vintage was a difficult one, so this is a pretty good effort. Some impression of lees which adds texture (yeasty, bready notes). I think this bottle was a bit turned/oxidized.
