Overraskende dejlig. Startede ud med duft af, at den var gået over, men det foretog sig hurtigt. Dejlig balance ml tanniner og syre. Frugterne var gemt væk men stadig dejlig smag. Flasken var hurtigt tømt.

Dark blood red. Smoky meat, black tea, chocolate on the nose. Ripe black cherry, mineral, moderate tannins, and tart finish. Probably in its prime, in no way old.

Dark red. Tobacco, black fruit, coffee, hint of prune and earthiness. Mature but not old.

Thoroughly enjoyed my last bottle after letting the funk blow off for at least 2 hours. By 4 hours, it was glowing. Loved it.

Excellent balance between fruit and spice. Incredible value and a hidden gem. Drinking perfectly now. Wish I could find more. 95

Wow in a bottle. This wine has been one of my best investments. I can't believe how good its still showing. Definitely at the end of its evolution. Rich, deep, dark berries, smoky, vanilla, cedar, dried rose petals. On par with a good Barolo at this age. Drink up and revel in the pleasure. Tastes like twice the price.

This is very good for a wine of this age and in this price range. It has spent four months in french oak and obviously many, many more months in the bottle and it is still very fresh! Even though I have not had a bottle of Mencia in ages I immediately recognised the grape characteristics upon opening and when having the first sip. Already 20-30 minutes later this was gone but the bottle was still going strong, albeit in …

Medium red. Smoke, barnyard, green forest, salt water, and spice; subtle but nuanced in its own way. Quite Burgundian (as many others have noted) in presentation and texture, but with a refreshingly mineral back end. Finishes long and slightly medicinal. An impressive showcases for inherent elegance of the mencia grape.

Popped and poured. Wine is flat and uninteresting. Left it for one hour. Wine totally developed into a full bodied, velvetty wine. Good structure with fine tannins and good acid. Well integrated oaky taste. Fine wine for me.

Coming along nicely. A raspberry, sweet stone and blackberry delight. Finish longer now with a spice box note. Opened and drank over 3 hours. Was all together at the end. And still that burgundy connection.

Well-balanced medium bodied red with a decent finish and red & black fruit. Paired perfectly with homemade lasagna. But nothing extraordinary on its own.

Tasted at a Spanish Wine tasting at the local Wine Warehouse. This is an old world charmer; for those that are into the new world fruit driven wines this won't do it for you. A more Burgundian style, with a smokey and earthy profile. Medium bodied with a solid mid pallatte and a nice lingering finish. Still youthfull and vibrant, this wine is likely still improving and should drink well for another 5 to 10 years.

Spicy, spicy is what comes to mind. Pleasureable finish, long on the kinda side. Fruit is forward.

Excellent Mencia from Bierzo. Took time to open out but very complex on the nose and the palate. Nice lingering taste of cherry.

Lots of black pepper and some leather. Very refined and balanced. Clean, slightly salty finish showing plum. Day two, pretty much the same.

Complex and very interesting nose ... reminded me of a Cote de Nuits Burgundy. Smoky, funky red and black fruits and hints of earthy mineral. On the palate, smoothe, polished and velvety. I was impressed. One of the Wines of the Night.

Smokey nose initially that turned into a plum-filled leather smell after a few hours. Silky smooth with no heat on the palate. Heavy on the plum which was nice, but pretty one-dimensional. Expected a bit more.

Did not like this one at all. Honestly, I don't want to take the time to describe it. It just did not work!

Spanish wines (FOF) : Dark red center and red hue, seems to just have passed its youthful look. Aromas of cigarbox, very nice, and some earthy cherries. In the mouth there is a warm feel, but the fruit is elegant. Gaining some chocolate and herbs over the midpalate and end, with powerful tannins. Good lenght and balance.

The nose reminds me of a Burgundy pinot noir, fresh, floral, complex. Full, spicy taste with good acids and a long aftertaste. Very good food wine.

Drank on Valentine's Day with Adrianne at Gaucho Steak. Liked it a lot at beginning of the meal, not so much in the middle and then liked it better after the meal. Not sure why the difference.

Dark purple color, a little browning at the edges. A somewhat reticent nose, with asian spices and earth. On the palate, dark cherry, spicy from oak (but it's not oaky), sous bois (or whatever the spanish equivalent is), a related hint of pine and good minerality. Medium-bodied, with a nice lift from the acid. Nice long finish. I don't have enough experience with Burgundies to know if this is a "Burgundy on steroids," as Parker says, but between the sous …

A round, leathery nose with some hedgerow fruit. Ripe and pleasing on the palate. Interesting character and a sweet nutty finish. Very Good Indeed.
