A deliciously intoxicating bouquet of flowers, some dried berries underneath. the attack is soft, pretty, elegant, then comes a crescendo of energy that explodes through the finish, and yet the wine is also easy going and smooth. As Robert Palmer sang, “it’s simply irresistible.” I might not have a wine better than this in all of 2026. And if you scroll down further, you’ll see that I drank this wine back in September and didn’t score it this high so …

Incredibly smooth tannins for the age, bright acidity, lovely fruit and deep floral/herbal long finish while being light bodied

Consumed alongside ‘19 Soldera Case Basse, 2011 Rayas, ‘95 Quintarelli Amarone, and 2004 Masseto. This was my first experience with SdC and I absolutely loved it…thought it slightly edged out the Soldera, albeit different vintages. Very approachable now, and this is without question a burgundy lover’s Brunello. I ponder what these would taste like with decades of bottle age, but no concerns opening as soon as now for this vintage.

Opened at Caprice in HK. P&P and served blind to the group. Well, the collective wisdom of the group nailed it - young Stella. Definitely a case of infanticide in my opinion, both from the perspective of opening it too young and not giving it enough air, but this bottle has the Domaine's signature sweet, clean nose alongside incredible concentration. Goes down smoothly but with some grip, reminding you that there's a lot going on here. The score reflects the …

Stella di Campalto’s Cielo 2018 is a fantastic wine in the making. Closed at first with a strong glue scent that went away shortly after, it then wafts from the glass with a perfumed bouquet of dark fruit, flowers, Italian spices and herbs. The palate is silky and refined, with good length and acidity.

Dried cherries/cranberries, flowers, minerality, and herbs. This is classic Brunello, just elevated/elegant to the max. Medium plus acid and tannin. Finish is supremely concentrated/long with flavors matching the nose. Came into this bottle with what I thought were unrealistic expectations and this still blew me away. One of the few Brunellos I consider analogous to great Burgundy. This is lifted/elegant, while simultaneously concentrated/powerful. Absolute knock out.

My 2nd bottle and this is showing better than the previous bottle (more restraint and shy). Plum, red currant, savoury, complex herbs and flowers. Fine and elegant, soft tannin , refreshing acidity, very elegant finish. Very ready and classy.

I had my 2nd bottle of this last night at dinner paired with paccheri pasta in a meat ragu - great pairing, and this wine is showing great for such a young wine. Given how nice it is already, I’m hesitant to speculate on how it might improve with further bottle age, but if you have it in the cellar and have been telling yourself it’s too young, don’t hesitate to pull a cork to check it out. Delicious 🍷👍.

Same bottle as Jviz just a day 2 sample. Served blind and totally whiffed--was thinking burgundy. Very polished and suave, with a hint of sandal wood to round out the finish. Seemed too rounded and elegant to be sangiovese. Would very much like to try again with larger pour. in 93-95 range

A lovely and rather composed 2018. This was chirping in the glass, bright, red fruited with cinnamon nuance. It tastes like a somewhat burgundian expression of Sangiovese, but clean, no VA, and really expressive. Quite enjoyed.

Reduced nose but magnificent texture on the palate where raspberry dominates, great freshness, beautiful balance, still tannic finish. A wine with a great future.

Knockout nose. Layers of precise red fruit with lifted herbs and spices. Structured with vibrant acidity. Super long bright cherry finish. Delicious. Hold.

Opened in the bottle for several hours. Initially a lot of game and earth but fortunately faded. Sweet/ripe red fruit, baking spice, tobacco, anise, and mineral. High acid and tannin but not obtrusive. Drink now with a long decant or hold a decade.

Had this at dinner last night, so no formal note, but this drank great. Already accessible for such a young wine. I don't know much about this particular release other than it seems like it's an early release Brunello (at least for Stella).

Generous airtime in bottle already. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), structured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sour red cherries, dark red cherries, red plums, licorice, sweet BBQ meat, leather, tarry earth. Very long finish. …
